Job Summary

TheGeneral Manager Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA)isresponsible forthe daily management of all activities of the FSQA department, including the implementation and execution of food safety programs, specification adherence, and product quality for products within their assigned facility. This includes monitoring, verification, and record-keeping associated with adherence to government regulations and internal food safety systems. Additionally, the FSQA General Manager will oversee departmental budgets, turnover, safety, and all specialprojects asassigned.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring Compliance: Ensure all Tyson FSQA policies and procedures are followed.

  • Leadership: Lead FSQA Supervisors and FSQA Technicians, includingselectionand training.

  • Verification: Verify production practices from raw material/live animal receiving through finished product quality and Food Safety Systems.

  • Sanitation Support: Support sanitation through monitoring of preoperational and operational sanitation.

  • Program Development: Develop, implement, andmaintainthe HACCP/HARPC & SSOP programs.

  • Quality Assurance: Ensure finished product conforms to customer product specifications and is properly labeled.

  • Reporting: Report product issues and audit results to plant and corporateFSQAplant management, corporate sales, R&D, and operations.

  • Customer Interaction: Interact with customers and their agents for product showings, plant tours, and audits.

  • Complaint Management: Conduct investigations and respond to quality-related customer complaints or complaint trends.

  • Microbiological Monitoring:Monitormicrobiological results, including bacterial swabs and shelf-life studies.

  • New Product Commercialization:Participatein new product commercialization.

This positionis responsible forfood safety, food quality, and legality.

Requirements

Education

  • High School diploma orGED. Bachelors degree in a related field preferred.

Experience

  • At least 5 years in a food manufacturing environmentrequired, with a broad knowledge in one or more of the following areas: HACCP, USDA, GMP, and SSOPs.

  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.

Computer Skills

  • Standard computer skillsrequired.

  • Proficient computer skills capable of generating customer letters and spreadsheets.

  • Must be capable of mastering EIM, SAP, and warehouse inventory systems to provide support and training to plant FSQA and other Team Members.

Communication Skills

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal,demonstratingthe proven ability to correspond with all levelsfromfrontlineteam members to corporate management.

Special Skills

  • Strong problem identification and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently while interacting with variousfacetswithin the organization.

  • Serve as the plant liaison to USDA/FDA.

Supervisory

  • Manage crewing labor and attendance of the FSQA department.
