Summary:
The General Manager, Florida Building Code, will perform personally or through subordinate staff, the permit issuance and construction inspection of all school board facility improvements and supervise department staff.
Responsibilities:
Coordinates all plan review and construction inspection activity; provides technical assistance to all persons, trades, and professions performing construction activity.
Coordinates permit application review, issuance, and tracking activities.
Supervises field inspections personnel, assists with complicated inspections, conducts training, and performs other activities related to the management of field inspection personnel.
Ensures that plans, specifications, and technical documents comply with applicable codes and standards.
Performs administrative, supervisory, and technical work within the Building Code Compliance Office.
Prepares reports and correspondence; assigns, develops, and evaluates staff and consultants; manages work processes.
Coordinates, plans, and provides oversight of training workshops, presentations, and memorandum regarding new and/or revised district policies, practices, procedures, and best business practices.
This position requires traveling to various school sites, work locations, and community organizations throughout the district during day and evening hours. This position is considered "critical personnel" during any emergency situation and can be subject to being held over or called back to a district location at any and all times.

Qualifications:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job successfully.
Education: A bachelor's degree or formal training in architecture, engineering, or construction preferred.
Experience: Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in building design and/or construction or related area, with at least three (3) years of related management or supervisory experience required.
Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License. Must possess a standard certificate as a Florida Building Code Administrator, Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR). Additional certification from other model code agencies is desirable.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Physical Activities: Standing, walking, sitting, handling, keyboarding, talking, and hearing.
Lifting Demands: Up to 10 pounds.
Reaching Activities: Both dominant and non-dominant hand; overhead.
Environmental Conditions: Noise Intensity: 3, moderate.
