Full Job Description
Unit: Endoscopy

Working Hours: Full Time; 40 hours/week; (4) 10 hour shifts

Shift: Day Shift; 7:30a - 6p; On Call work required

Job Details & Qualifications:

The Gastroenterology Technical Coordinator possesses advanced knowledge and skills necessary to perform advanced endoscopic procedures. Acts as a departmental resource for the gastroenterology service line and serves as a primary preceptor for other staff orienting to the Technician role in the Endoscopy Suite. This position in collaboration and under the direction of the department Nurse Manager and/or designated charge nurse coordinates the daily operations of the suite. Ensures operational efficiency by planning for the availability of supplies/equipment and instrumentation. Provides technical expertise to the other Endoscopy Technicians and nursing staff necessary to ensure the safe and effective performance of endoscopic procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serves as a technical resource and coordinator for the Endoscopy Unit, assisting with procedures and daily operations.
  • Coordinates staff orientation, ongoing education, training, and competency programs, including scope reprocessing.
  • Oversees medical/surgical supplies, equipment maintenance, repairs, safety checks, inventory, budgets, and vendor coordination.
  • Ensures compliance with infection control, safety, quality, and regulatory standards while supporting continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintains scope tracking, equipment and patient data systems, documentation, policies, and other technical resources for the Endoscopy Unit.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current CPR Certification required.
  • Two years of training/education in endoscopy required.
  • SGNA certification required.
  • 2-5 years' experience as an Endoscopy Technician.
  • Previous experience in a special procedures setting or operating room required.
  • Experience in supply management and procurement.

Salary Range: Minimum 30.38/hour - Maximum 50.10/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
