Gas Detection Systems Engineer / Supervisor

(Toxic Gas Monitoring, Gas Detection & Life Safety Systems)

Location: Samsung Taylor Campus, Taylor, Texas

Schedule: Onsite - 5 Days per Week

Position Summary

Doota Industrial America is seeking an experienced Dangerous Gas Systems Engineer / Supervisor to support the operation, maintenance, commissioning, troubleshooting, and technical oversight of hazardous gas detection and monitoring systems within a semiconductor manufacturing environment. This role will be assigned to the SEVA Project and will serve as a critical technical resource responsible for ensuring the integrity, reliability, and compliance of toxic gas monitoring systems (TGMS), gas detection systems (GDS), and life safety monitoring infrastructure.

The successful candidate will provide leadership for field technicians and contractors while coordinating with Facilities, EHS, Operations, Construction, and System Integrators to ensure continuous protection against hazardous gas releases and compliance with site safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead installation, startup, commissioning, testing, and maintenance activities for dangerous gas detection and monitoring systems.
  • Supervise field personnel performing calibration, bump testing, sensor replacement, and preventative maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with semiconductor industry standards, customer requirements, and environmental health and safety regulations.
  • Oversee operation of Toxic Gas Monitoring Systems (TGMS), Gas Detection Systems (GDS), combustible gas monitoring systems, and specialty gas detection networks.
  • Perform root cause analysis and troubleshooting of detector failures, communication issues, alarm conditions, and system malfunctions.
  • Review and approve calibration records, maintenance logs, service reports, and corrective action documentation.
  • Coordinate alarm verification, interlock testing, relay verification, analog signal validation, and system acceptance testing.
  • Serve as the primary technical liaison between customers, EHS personnel, vendors, subcontractors, and project management teams.
  • Support emergency response activities related to gas detection alarms and hazardous gas incidents.
  • Ensure compliance with permit-to-work procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, JSA/JHA processes, and PPE standards.
  • Provide leadership for continuous improvement initiatives involving gas safety systems and reliability programs.
  • Participate in system upgrades, expansions, and future facility commissioning projects.
  • Support 24/7 on-call technical response as required.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent industry experience).
  • 5+ years of experience supporting hazardous gas monitoring, gas detection systems, industrial instrumentation, semiconductor facilities, or process safety systems.
  • Experience supervising field technicians, contractors, or maintenance teams.
  • Strong knowledge of toxic gas monitoring systems, combustible gas detection systems, and life safety monitoring infrastructure.
  • Experience with detector calibration, sensor validation, response testing, and alarm verification.
  • Ability to interpret P&IDs, electrical drawings, loop diagrams, control schematics, and system architecture documentation.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor facility safety practices and hazardous gas handling requirements.
  • Strong troubleshooting and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent documentation, reporting, and stakeholder communication abilities.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Semiconductor FAB experience.
  • Experience with Samsung, Intel, TSMC, Micron, or other semiconductor manufacturing facilities.
  • Familiarity with Gastron, Honeywell, MSA, Dräger, RKI, ChemLogic, DOD Technologies, RAE Systems, or similar platforms.
  • Knowledge of toxic, corrosive, pyrophoric, flammable, and specialty gas systems.
  • Experience with PLCs, SCADA, BMS, or facility monitoring systems.
  • OSHA 30, NFPA, or Process Safety Management (PSM) experience.
  • Factory certification or manufacturer training on gas detection equipment.
