The Opportunity

The Functional FEP will serve as a strategic business partner to the Partners in Functions and be an active voice in decision making. The role includes strong partnership and reporting to the Functional Lead to ensure clarity and oversight of Functional investment as well as to enable trade-offs within function and across company.

This role is responsible for ensuring delivery of financial commitments by enabling data-driven trade-offs across functions.  The ideal candidate connects financial rigor with operational realities, driving alignment across the business to maximize value, optimize resource allocation, and support sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Finance & Business Partnership:

  • Partner closely with designated stakeholders within the Function as agreed with the Functional FEP Lead to deliver financial targets.

  • Act as the finance voice that enables connecting the dots and provides company-wide perspective to the function to enable decision making, managing performance, providing actionable insights to guide strategic decisions.

  • Enable trade-off discussions across initiatives & support the functions to link investment decisions with their impact on current or future performance.

  • Support scenario planning for product lifecycle decisions, launch planning, and market changes as required.

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A):

  • Collaborate actively in sales forecasting, defining scenarios with the Finance Functional FEP and providing transparency of assumptions to Finance counterparts (local, ECOE partners and global when needed).

  • Lead budgeting, trade-off discussions and investments priorities for the Function under their responsibility and long-range planning in the areas where needed.

  • Monitor performance versus plan and identify risks and opportunities early.

  • Translate operational metrics into financial outcomes.

  • Oversee the financial forecasting and month-end reliability of figures for functional expenses and provide that clarity to stakeholders.

Cross-Functional Integration:

  • Connect insights across CMG and ensure fluid conversation with Squad FEPs and other finance counterparts as needed.

  • Facilitate alignment meetings to ensure coordinated decisions across functions.

  • Partner with different functions/squads as needed to enable the conversations and allow holistic investment conversations and prioritization.

Decision Support & Trade-Off Analysis:

  • Evaluate ROI of critical investments within functions.

  • Support prioritization of limited resources across products and initiatives.

  • Provide clear recommendations that balance short-term commitments and long-term value.

Governance & Reporting:

  • Prepare executive-level reporting on function performance and risks.

  • Support financial reviews, business cases, and investment approvals.

  • Ensure compliance with financial policies and internal controls.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Key Stakeholders: Senior functional leaders, cross-functional stakeholders in CMG + ECOE.

  • Level of Influence: Must influence cross-functional stakeholders to align priorities and resources.

  • Exposure: High frequency of managing executive stakeholders with assertiveness and confidence.

  • Network Building: Building strong, collaborative networks acrossSquad Team and with Global counterparts as well as within Finance to translate P&L performance into strategic narratives.​

Who You Are
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (MBA preferred).

  • Experience: 8–12 years of progressive finance experience, preferably in pharmaceutical or life sciences.

  • Experience supporting commercial or portfolio teams in a matrix environment.

  • Strong understanding of pharma revenue mechanics (pricing, access, gross-to-net).

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $156,800 - $291,200.  Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.  This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
