Full Stack Engineer (AI)
Location: San Diego Office / Hybrid Type: Full-Time Team: Engineering
The Role
We're looking for a Full Stack Engineer who is equally comfortable architecting a backend service and building a polished Android experience. You'll work across the stack, from APIs and data pipelines to native mobile interfaces, and play a hands-on role in integrating AI capabilities into the products we ship.
This is not a siloed role. You'll collaborate directly with the team on product decisions, technical direction, and AI feature development from day one.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and maintain AI-powered applications across a full tech stack that includes front-end web, Android, and back-end backend services
- Integrate AI/ML models and APIs (LLMs, embeddings, Computer vision and other inference pipelines) into product workflows
- Write clean, well-tested code and contribute to a culture of technical quality
- Collaborate closely with a small team - weigh in on architecture, product scope, and priorities
- Iterate quickly based on user feedback and real-world usage data
- Help shape engineering practices as the team grows
What We're Looking For
Must-haves:
- 3+ years of full stack development experience (backend + frontend or mobile)
- Experience building and consuming RESTful or GraphQL APIs
- Familiarity working with or integrating AI/ML tools, LLMs, or AI-powered APIs
- Comfort working in a small team where ownership is broad and autonomy is real
Nice-to-haves:
- 5+ years of full stack development experience would be preferred for the level of complexity of our system
- Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Familiarity with vector databases, RAG pipelines, or AI agent frameworks
- Familiarity with data driven applications
- Familiarity with computer vision frameworks
- Prior startup or early-stage team experience
- Contributions to open source or personal AI projects
- Solid Android development skills (Kotlin preferred; Java considered)
