We have a 6 month contract to hire for a skilled and self-motivated software engineer with at least 3 years of hands-on experience in building scalable, secure, and accessible web applications. They bring strong technical expertise in React.js and Node.js, with demonstrated proficiency in developing microservices in cloud-based environments, particularly within AWS. The candidate is well-versed in SQL for complex queries, and has experience working with Git or similar centralized code repositories.

They are a collaborative team player who thrives in Agile/Scrum environments and communicates effectively with cross-functional teams including product owners, UX designers, and QA analysts. Strong leadership ability and ownership of deliverables are key attributes. Bonus points for candidates with experience in healthcare IT, AWS Lambda, GraphQL, Java 8+/Spring Boot, Docker, and Kubernetes. Familiarity with accessibility standards (508 compliance) and tools is a distinct advantage.

MUST HAVES:

About this Role:

• Team is part of the Web Application Engineering team that is under Manage My Plan Pillar in the Technology department.
• The team mainly focuses on delivering member-related features on the Web Portals for our members.
• This team is composed of 3 developers, QA person, Product Owner and a Scrum Master.
• A member from UI/UX team also works during the starting phase of the project.
• All members of the team work remotely and follow the Agile methodology using Scrum ceremonies.

Responsibilities:

• Position Purpose: Design, build, test and maintain scalable and stable off the shelf application or custom built technology solutions to meet business needs.
• Act as a subject matter expert for Application Software developers and Engineers.
• Developing and support of a monolithic architecture.
• Assisting in gathering and verifying requirements for new capabilities requested by the business.
• Strong React.js skills as it's used in component UI architecture, and Node.js skills for microservice.
• Strong communication skills.
• Development support in a component UI/microservice.
• Building server-less applications using the AWS cloud architecture.
• Experience with accessibility/508 compliant UI development. For example, being familiar with usage of accessibility code linters and/or browser tools to identify and address 508 compliance violations.
