Fuel Project Engineer

Take Nuclear Fuel Projects from Engineering Through Commissioning This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who wants broader responsibility than a traditional process engineering role. You'll combine nuclear fuel process engineering with owner-side EPCM and construction oversight, working across design, construction, installation, testing, commissioning, and operational readiness.
Reporting to the Director of Fuel Facilities Operations, you'll serve as a key technical representative with direct exposure to EPCM partners, contractors, vendors, field teams, operations, quality, and leadership.
What You'll Do - Lead process engineering activities supporting nuclear fuel processing, production, and operational improvement.
- Provide day-to-day owner oversight of EPCM, construction, installation, testing, commissioning, and turnover activities.
- Serve as a technical interface with EPCM contractors, construction partners, vendors, and field personnel.
- Monitor contractor performance against scope, schedule, budget, technical requirements, quality standards, and contractual obligations.
- Conduct field inspections and facility walkdowns and troubleshoot engineering, process, and construction issues.
- Evaluate design and contractor changes for technical, cost, schedule, safety, licensing, quality, and operational impacts.
- Participate in design and construction readiness reviews, system walkdowns, commissioning, turnover, and operational readiness.
- Identify project risks and contractor performance concerns and drive issues toward resolution.
- Partner with operations, maintenance, quality, and leadership on process improvements and project execution.
What You'll Bring Required - Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Process Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of process engineering experience, preferably within fuel, refining, energy, or a related industrial environment.
- Experience with construction management, inspections, process optimization, and operational improvement.
- Working knowledge of industrial safety, environmental, and quality systems.
- Strong technical, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 50%.
Preferred - Nuclear fuel handling, fuel production, or related process-system experience.
- EPCM, construction oversight, commissioning, or engineering leadership experience.
- PE license or progress toward licensure.
- Spanish-language proficiency.
