ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

Our advanced nuclear client is seeking a highly capable and motivated Project Coordinator (PC) who is responsible for the performance management of one or more control (cost code) accounts within the Performance Management Baseline (PMB). The PC is a project management-oriented role focusing on project performance management. The PC responsibilities include schedule planning and status, cost planning and management, measurement of accomplishment, actual cost collection, variance analysis and resultant corrective action, estimating costs at completion, and risk management. The PC manages at the control account (cost code) point where technical scope, schedule, and budget are integrated. The PC will have regular weekly and monthly communication with technical leads within the Manager's group. Effective communication, coupled with the ability to motivate others, will be critical for the success of this role. Background and experience in project management on large, complex projects using an Earned Value Management System (EVMS) is preferred.

  • Conduct regular cost account performance reviews of (but not limited to) budget, schedule and resources, and develop plans to address underperforming areas along with the CAM
  • Strive to continuously improve upon established business processes
  • Regularly interface with PC colleagues to optimize key project-wide processes
  • Budget Management
  • With dedicated support from Project Controls, monitor and analyze cost and schedule variances using the earned value (EV) data, actual costs, and IMCS data compared to the time-phased budget
  • Work to determine root causes and develop corrective actions, recovery plans, and variance management plans as necessary
  • Provide variance explanations and variance analysis reports, as requested by the Project Manager and in support of project reporting requirements
  • Monitoring and reviewing actual costs to ensure accurate recording of data against the charge numbers for work performed
  • Schedule Management
  • On a regular basis, solicit input from engineering staff for activity status updates in the Integrated Master Control Schedule (IMCS)
  • Prepare and serve as the primary point of contact for Project Change Notices (for the PC's assigned control accounts) and schedule reforecasting
  • Lead/drive the planning process for the work scope within the control account to develop schedules, identify correct sequencing of tasks, ensure identification of interfaces with other work products internal and external to the control account
  • Forecast activity durations to aid in verification of resource estimates using available historical data
  • Act as the primary point of contact for interfacing with project controls in the implementation of schedules in the IMCS
  • Risk Management
  • Proactively identify and monitor project management-related risks
  • Monitor and ensure the risk register is updated and maintained per Risk Management guidelines
  • Project Resource Management
  • Closely monitor performance of the team against the schedule baseline with support from Project Controls
  • Assist the CAM in develop staffing/resource plans to accomplish the work
  • Maintain and adjust the schedule to be resource leveled

Key Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited, four-year university or equivalent experience is required.
  • 4+ years direct project management experience with complex capital projects greater than $20 million desired.
  • Familiarity with calculating and communicating earned value management system (EVMS) metrics is desirable.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and/or MBA is preferred.
  • Experience with using Atlassian collaboration tools (e.g. Jira, Issuetrack, Confluence, Collab) is ideal.
  • Proficiency with P6 or MS Project is required.
  • Familiarity with engineering project life cycle strongly desired but not required.
  • Strong communication skills to support interfaces across different departments, up and down the management chain.
  • Strong organizational skills are necessary.
  • Proficiency in MS Project, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint is required.
  • The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect, and a desire to foster teamwork
  • Actual position starting level and title will be determined based on assessment of qualifications.
