As an Assistant Superintendent working within Pomerleau Construction's Civil Operations team, you will play a key role in supporting the successful delivery of major infrastructure and heavy civil projects. Working closely with the Superintendent, Project Manager, trade partners, and project teams, you will help coordinate daily site operations, maintain project schedules, and uphold Pomerleau's commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your leadership skills while contributing to complex and impactful projects that shape communities across Canada.

What You Will Do
• Support the Superintendent in coordinating daily construction activities to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project plans.
• Champion Health, Safety, and Environmental standards by promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with all regulations and company requirements.
• Assist with planning and monitoring short-term and long-term construction schedules, identifying potential impacts and helping implement corrective actions.
• Coordinate and communicate with trade partners, consultants, suppliers, and project stakeholders to support project execution.
• Conduct regular site inspections to ensure quality standards, specifications, and contract requirements are being met.
• Help track materials, equipment, and workforce requirements to support project productivity and schedule commitments.
• Participate in site meetings, toolbox talks, and coordination meetings, ensuring action items are communicated and followed through.
• Support the maintenance of site documentation, progress reports, daily logs, and field records.
• Proactively identify and help resolve site challenges while maintaining productivity and project momentum.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to field staff while fostering a positive, collaborative, and respectful work environment.

This Role Could Be For You If You Have
• 5-7+ years of construction experience, preferably within heavy civil, infrastructure, transportation, marine, tunnelling, or major projects.
• A degree, diploma, or certificate in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience supporting construction site operations, scheduling, safety, quality, and subcontractor coordination.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to work effectively with field and office teams.
• A proactive mindset and ability to identify solutions in a fast-paced construction environment.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Proficiency with construction management software, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience working on large-scale civil infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of scheduling software such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
