What We Are Looking ForWe are looking for a
Frontend Platform Architect to design and build the frontend platform that enables these applications. This role defines the architecture, primitives, and guardrails that allow engineers-and eventually AI agents themselves-to safely create and evolve interfaces. The eventual goal is for applications to autonomously evolve just as our AI systems do.
Key Responsibilities - Build the frontend platform that enables humans and AI agents to create and evolve applications
- Design the frontend architecture that makes this possible-ensuring applications can be built and deployed rapidly while maintaining enterprise-grade control, consistency, and governance
- Enable forward deployed and research teams to push the limits
- Work closely with research engineers developing new AI capabilities and forward-deployed teams deploying these systems into real-world environments
- Design frontend primitives and platform infrastructure that allow teams to rapidly experiment with new workflows, interfaces, and AI capabilities-while ensuring the broader platform remains stable and coherent
- Develop and maintain frontend platform guardrails and standards
- Define the architectural patterns, shared primitives, and platform conventions used to build applications across Distyl
- Design and own component systems and UI primitives, application architecture and integration patterns, frontend infrastructure and build systems, developer tooling and testing frameworks
Who You Are- Strong experience building and operating modern frontend platforms, including large-scale TypeScript and React applications, component systems and design infrastructure, application architecture and integration patterns, frontend infrastructure, build systems, and tooling, and state management and data synchronization
- Understand how frontend systems interact with APIs, distributed systems, and real-time data sources
- Designed and evolved frontend systems used by many engineers or applications. You understand how architectural decisions affect maintainability, developer productivity, and long-term system evolution
- Comfortable making high-impact technical decisions and owning their consequences
- Helped establish frontend standards, shared infrastructure, or architectural patterns used by multiple engineers or teams
- Write production code, review critical changes, and contribute directly to platform infrastructure
- Comfortable stepping into complex systems, diagnosing architectural problems, and improving them through pragmatic solutions
- Actively use modern AI tools in your workflow and think about how systems can be designed so that AI agents can safely generate, modify, and evolve application interfaces over time
- Experience designing shared systems-component libraries, design systems, developer tooling, or internal frameworks-that enable teams to move quickly while maintaining consistency across applications
- Comfortable working across research, infrastructure engineering, and forward deployed teams to design systems that integrate cleanly with broader infrastructure and evolving AI capabilities
What We Offer- The base salary range for this role is $180K - $250K, depending on experience, location, and level. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for meaningful equity, along with a comprehensive benefits package
- 100% covered medical, dental, and vision for employees and dependents
- 401(k) with additional perks (e.g., commuter benefits, in-office lunch)
- Access to state-of-the-art models, generous usage of modern AI tools, and real-world business problems
- Ownership of high-impact projects across top enterprises
- A mission-driven, fast-moving culture that prizes curiosity, pragmatism, and excellence
Distyl has offices in San Francisco and New York. This role follows a hybrid collaboration model with 3+ days per week (Tuesday-Thursday) in-office.
