We are forming a new organization within Prime Video to redefine our operational landscape through the power of artificial intelligence. As a Software Development Engineer on this team, you will play a key role in building the next generation of business automation. You will collaborate with senior engineers, product managers, and scientists to design, develop, and deploy the agentic AI solutions that will power this transformation. This is an opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a new initiative, work with complex distributed systems, and see your contributions directly improve how Prime Video operates for our customers worldwide.
For this team we are hiring, we are building an AI-powered creative production platform for one of the world's largest entertainment studios - a browser-based tool where creative professionals compose marketing key art using 50+ layers, AI-generated characters, dynamic lighting, and real-time image manipulation. This is not a typical frontend role. The product is a professional-grade, canvas-based creative editor - closer to Photoshop or Figma in complexity than a web application with forms and tables.
Key job responsibilities
- Design and build a high-performance, browser-based creative editor with multi-layer canvas compositing, real-time image manipulation, and GPU-accelerated rendering for professional-grade creative workflows.
- Architect and optimize rendering pipelines for complex layer stacks, handling high-resolution assets, blend modes, masking, and non-destructive editing with fluid performance.
- Integrate AI/ML model outputs into interactive UI workflows, enabling users to generate, edit, and compose visual content through intuitive creative controls.
- Implement production file export capabilities (including PSD with preserved layer structure) and asset management features that serve downstream creative teams.
- Collaborate with backend engineers, applied scientists, and product managers to deliver on our product roadmap and solve customer problems across the full creative production pipeline.
- Own performance, reliability, and quality of the frontend platform - profiling, measuring, and optimizing to ensure the application feels responsive under demanding workloads.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including design reviews, code reviews, and architectural decisions that will define the platform's technical foundation.
This role offers a unique opportunity to build professional creative tooling powered by AI - the kind of software where rendering performance, pixel-level precision, and deep browser expertise matter as much as product intuition. If you're passionate about building visually intensive, high-performance applications that push the boundaries of what's possible in the browser, we want to hear from you.
