Job Description:

You will help define how bp grows its franchise business across America. This is a role at the center of franchise expansion -- where commercial strategy, offer design, and market entry decisions come together to shape what the next generation of bp's convenience and mobility network looks like.

You will own the frameworks that determine where and how we grow, what the franchise offer looks like, and how we bring it to market in a way that is commercially sound, operationally scalable, and built to last. You will lead through influence, connecting cross-functional teams around shared outcomes and driving decisions from ambiguity into action.

This is not a support role. You will be accountable for the strategic architecture that powers franchise growth.

Key Accountabilities:

Franchise growth strategy and offer design
  • Define and evolve the franchise offer, including unit economics, partner value proposition, and return structures that attract and retain high-quality franchisees
  • Translate growth ambition into clear, executable commercial models that guide where, when, and how bp expands its franchise footprint
  • Build repeatable frameworks for market entry, investment decisioning, and portfolio prioritization that scale across geographies and channels of trade

Franchise development model and process design
  • Design the end-to-end franchise development model from opportunity identification through deal execution and franchisee onboarding
  • Simplify fragmented processes into clear, scalable workflows that reduce cycle time and improve conversion
  • Establish ownership and accountability across teams for each stage of the development funnel.

Disclosure and contractual construct design
  • Partner with legal and commercial teams to standardize disclosure inputs, contract structures, and core deal terms (royalties, incentives, operating commitments)
  • Ensure alignment between the franchise offer, disclosure positioning, and contractual commitments so the growth model holds together end to end
  • Reduce deal variability through structured, repeatable design

Decision support and commercial insight
  • Provide structured analysis to evaluate new growth opportunities and quantify trade-offs across return, risk, and scalability
  • Deliver decision-ready outputs that give leadership confidence to move quickly on the right opportunities

Network and channel strategy inputs
  • Provide economic and strategic perspective on where franchise is most viable across bp's network
  • Support trade-off decisions across channels of trade, helping the business prioritize capital-light growth where it creates the most value

Cross-functional leadership and execution alignment
  • Lead cross-functional workstreams across strategy, finance, legal, operations, digital, and field teams
  • Establish clear roles, ownership, and expected outputs without direct authority
  • Drive alignment on priorities, timelines, and deliverables, and actively resolve misalignment that slows progress

Systems and ways of working
  • Align data, tools, and processes into repeatable models that reduce friction and enable faster, more consistent decision-making
  • Identify system gaps and drive simplification at scale

Experience and Qualifications:

Specialist commercial and franchise capability
  • Experience in franchise economics, multi-site commercial models, or offer development in a growth-oriented business
  • Strong understanding of contract structures, lifecycle economics, and what makes a franchise offer commercially compelling

Cross-functional leadership
  • Proven ability to lead complex, multi-team initiatives without direct authority
  • Experience establishing accountability and driving alignment in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
  • Comfortable navigating tension between speed and rigor

Structured thinking and influence
  • Strong commercial judgment with the ability to translate complexity into clear decisions and actions
  • Direct, effective communicator who can challenge constructively and hold teams to outcomes

You will work with:
  • Franchise leadership and strategy teams
  • Network planning, finance, data managers, and commercial performance partners
  • Category management, merchandising, procurement, digital, loyalty, marketing and operational teams supporting franchise enablement
  • Field and business development leaders as strategic collaborators (not reporting line)

You'll join a team focused on scaling growth the right way-commercially sound, system-enabled, and resilient across cycles.

About BP

BP p.l.c. is a British multinational oil and gas company headquartered in London, England. It is one of the oil and gas "supermajors" and one of the world's largest companies measured by revenues and profits. It is a vertically integrated company operating in all areas of the oil and gas industry, including exploration and extraction, refining, distribution and marketing, power generation, and trading. BP's origins date back to the founding of the Anglo-Persian Oil Company in 1908, established as a subsidiary of Burmah Oil Company to exploit oil discoveries in Iran. In 1935, it became the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company and in 1954, adopted the name British Petroleum. In 1959, the company expanded beyond the Middle East to Alaska. British Petroleum acquired majority control of Standard Oil of Ohio in 1978. Formerly majority state-owned, the British government privatised the company in stages between 1979 and 1987. British Petroleum merged with Amoco in 1998, becoming BP Amoco plc, and acquired ARCO and Burmah Castrol in 2000 and Aral AG in 2002. The company's name was shortened to BP p.l.c. in 2001. From 2003 to 2013, BP was a partner in the TNK-BP joint venture in Russia, and from 2013 until Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine, held a nearly 20% stake in Rosneft.
