FPGA Design Engineer, Mid-Level

Overview

Responsibilities

Design, implement, integrate, and test digital systems specifically regarding FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) technology. Develop Verilog, VHDL, and HDL designs for FPGAs.

Modify and/or design special purpose, custom RF System on a Chip (RFSoC) boards for real-time, hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) missile integration.

Troubleshooting and test support as needed.

Other responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications & Education Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution required.

3-5 years of demonstrated experience is required. Highly qualified engineers with related work experience may be considered.

Xilinx RFSoC experience is preferred, and/or experience with high-speed ADCs/DACs and FPGAs.

Strong FPGA design experience in VHDL or Verilog.

Strong DSP background using FPGAs. Digital filter design and DDS experience required.

Experience using PCIe, DDR Ram, multi-gigabit serial, and ethernet protocols with FPGAs and microprocessors.

Knowledge of basic serial communication protocols, UART, I2C, SPI, 8B10B.

Mixed signal PCB design experience.

Proficient with the use of basic test equipment, oscilloscopes, function generators, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers.

U.S. Citizenship with Active Secret Security clearance required.

Physical Description

Employees in these positions will function in a general office/cubicle setting environment, and laboratory/testing setting using standard office equipment and various electronic testing equipment, including a computer, telephone, printers, video equipment, computer software and testing equipment. Will interact in a general office setting environment with various personnel; participate in meetings and contribute to team success; deliver timely results and produce reports; receive and communicate information; may include telework. May function in a specialized laboratory/testing environment using electronic testing equipment, computer software and complex systems. May move and test equipment of various weights. Laboratory environment may require use of protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to safety glasses and protective hearing and footwear. May be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization due to business demands; travel occasionally for assigned work.
