FP&A Corporate and Business Unit Team
Move beyond compiling data and help tell the story behind the numbers. The Business Unit facing positions offer opportunities to drive better business partnering and insights, while growing your FP&A leadership and interpersonal skills. You are considered a business partner and your contributions will make a difference. You’ll become involved in, but not limited to, pricing decisions and new initiatives to develop new products and services. You can have an impact on new business growth opportunities through development of business case scenarios.
The Sr. Manager of the Standard Costing team (Verizon Business Group – Commercial Finance) will be responsible for working collaboratively across functions to establish the strategy for client teams on both an operational and financial basis. Key oversight areas may include:
- Partner with product organization, pricing development, sales operations, network, and technology services to develop standard costs.
- Review all standard pricing costing within the Verizon Business Group organization to determine overall financial impact to the business and alignment to Verizon strategic plan.
- Partner with product organization, pricing development, sales operations, network and costing to develop business cases for new product development, enhancements, geo expansions, and lifecycle support.
- Perform complex financial analysis to determine financial viability, risks, and rewards.
- Prepare and review financial summary with the executive leadership team and make appropriate business recommendations.
- Drive rationalization, simplification, consistency and governance in the Standard Costing Process.
- Create and test business rules for incorporation into standard cost models.
- Perform sensitivity analyses (“backwards testing” for each methodology change), and facilitate approval by management in accordance with agreed thresholds.
- Develop and maintain cost assignment methodologies for the lowest levels of the Global Product Hierarchy (by speed tier, service type, etc.).
- Advise on risk and opportunity considerations for managing cost and growing the revenue and profitability.
- Recommend planning and business performance issues to define and execute action plans.
- Identify and assess cost and effect patterns in the business not captured in existing reporting.
- Perform monthly performance review of business unit initiatives and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Provide decision support and guidance; lead ad-hoc presentation development and executive review.
- Present and communicate to all levels of the business.
What we're looking for...
You'll need to have:
- Bachelor's Degree or four or more years of work experience.
- Six or more years years of relevant work experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.
- Six or more years of relevant financial experience.
- Experience with communication and presentation to senior leadership.
- Business case development and analysis experience.
- Experience with Activity Based Costing methodologies and industry standard tools.
- Experience with customer specific, profitability analysis.
- Ability to understand and model financial impacts associated with payment term or methodology changes (e.g. cash flow impact, fees, etc).
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
- Thorough knowledge of Verizon Business Group’s product portfolio and business units.
- Bachelor's Degree and/or Master’s in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
- A professional certification (e.g. CPA, CMA).
- High degree of strategic and analytical capability, including the ability to analyze a large amount of data.
- Strong logical and technical database skills required to build and maintain complex cost models; proficiency in SQL or other data-manipulation languages is highly beneficial.
- Strong strategic skills, with the ability to identify and assess key points, implications and recommendations; Proven ability to structure business case around a high-level strategic vision.
- Knowledge of FASB and SEC requirements, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, tax reporting and accounting practices and International Financial Reporting Standards.
- Advanced understanding of report query and design.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to focus on the details.
- Demonstrated experience in continuous improvement initiatives, root cause analysis and project management.
- Familiar with Essbase, Smart View, Hyperion Planning, and Hyperion Strategic Finance.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes working from home and a minimum of three days per week in the office, which will be set by your manager. Employees are responsible for maintaining compliance with hybrid work policies.

The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part-time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
The annual salary range for the location(s) listed on this job requisition based on a full-time schedule is: $94,000.00 - $180,000.00.
