About the RoleThis is a founding product engineering role at an early-stage healthtech startup building an AI-native operating system that helps nurse practitioners launch and run independent clinics. You'll work directly alongside founders, designers, and clinicians to transform complex clinical workflows into polished, reliable software - with real impact on how care is delivered.
What You'll Do- Own major clinician-facing workflows end-to-end - from whiteboard through implementation, testing, rollout, and iteration.
- Collaborate closely with designers, founders, and clinicians to define product behavior rather than waiting for finished specs.
- Drive frontend architecture and technical direction across provider and patient applications.
- Shape APIs, data models, and system behavior while primarily owning the frontend.
- Iterate quickly from rough concepts to production-quality experiences alongside a product designer.
- Debug complex production issues spanning browsers, APIs, third-party integrations, and infrastructure.
- Contribute to engineering culture through code reviews, technical discussions, and pragmatic decision-making.
- Leverage AI development tools as part of your workflow while maintaining full ownership of system design and production quality.
What We're Looking For- 5-10+ years of experience with a demonstrated track record leading significant technical initiatives or owning major product areas.
- Strong hands-on experience with React and Next.js (TypeScript assumed).
- Proven ability to own user-facing features from concept through production.
- Comfortable working across the frontend/backend boundary - debugging APIs, backend behavior, and third-party integrations.
- Experience collaborating directly with designers, customers, or domain experts to shape product direction.
- Strong product intuition, engineering judgment, and a bias toward delivering real outcomes quickly.
- Comfortable in a fast-moving startup environment with ambiguous, evolving requirements.
- Confident using AI-assisted development tools while maintaining ownership of what you build.
- Nice to have: experience in healthcare or regulated software (e.g. FHIR), prior founding or early-stage engineer experience, or experience evolving a design system.
