Full Job Description
The Opportunity

Spur has reached an exciting inflection point.

We've built a product customers love, landed marquee brands, developed a repeatable sales motion, and grown largely through inbound demand and referrals. We've done all of that without a dedicated marketing function.

Now it's time to build one.

As Spur's Founding Marketer, you'll work directly with our founders and partner closely with our growing sales team to build our marketing engine from the ground up. You'll own how Spur shows up in the market, from our content and website to SEO/GEO, campaigns, customer storytelling, and the category we're creating.

Our ambition is bigger than becoming another QA tool. We believe every consumer company needs a validation system that continuously makes sure its digital experience works as intended, whether that means validating checkout flows, merchandising launches, new content, localization, AI features, or the overall customer experience.

Your job is to make that idea impossible to ignore.

This is a highly hands-on role. You won't inherit a large team, agency roster, or established playbook. You'll decide what we should say, where we should say it, build the systems to execute it, measure what works, and double down.

What You'll Do
Own Spur's content and point of view
  • Develop a distinctive content strategy that makes Spur a must-follow company for leaders across e-commerce, product, engineering, and QA.
  • Turn customer insights, product expertise, market trends, and original ideas into compelling content across LinkedIn, the Spur website, customer stories, thought leadership, and other channels.
  • Build a consistent publishing engine from ideation through writing, editing, distribution, and measurement.
  • Partner closely with Sneha and the team to turn their expertise and customer conversations into content that earns attention.
  • Develop customer stories that turn Spur's existing roster of marquee brands into powerful proof points.
Build the category
  • Help establish validation systems as a new category and position Spur as the company defining it.
  • Develop messaging and narratives that expand the market's understanding of Spur beyond traditional QA and testing.
  • Own how Spur communicates its differentiation as AI changes both how software is built and how buyers discover products.
  • Stay close to customers, prospects, competitors, and the broader market to continuously sharpen our positioning.
Own our digital presence
  • Own Spur's website as a growth channel, including messaging, landing pages, customer stories, conversion, and ongoing experimentation.
  • Build and execute our SEO and GEO strategy so Spur shows up wherever buyers are researching their problems and evaluating solutions.
  • Develop content around the questions our customers are already asking and create a durable organic acquisition engine.
  • Make Spur's digital presence reflect the quality and ambition of the product we're building.
Partner with sales to drive revenue
  • Work alongside our sales team as a true GTM partner, building campaigns and content that create demand and help move deals forward.
  • Develop sales enablement and customer proof that makes Spur easier to understand, evaluate, and buy.
  • Experiment with paid and organic acquisition channels, measuring what works and scaling the highest-leverage opportunities.
  • Build the measurement foundation to understand how marketing contributes to pipeline and revenue.
Build the marketing function
  • Set the strategy, priorities, metrics, and operating cadence for marketing at Spur.
  • Decide what to build yourself, where to leverage contractors or agencies, and eventually where to grow the internal team.
  • Run fast experiments, learn from the market, and continuously refine our approach.
  • Help shape what marketing at Spur looks like for years to come.
Who You Are

We care much more about what you've built than a specific title or pedigree.

You might be a great fit if:
  • You have roughly 5-8 years of marketing experience, ideally in B2B SaaS, e-commerce technology, AI, or another fast-moving technology company.
  • You've been an early marketing hire, a #1 or #2 marketer at a startup, or a highly autonomous individual contributor who's ready to own the function.
  • You're an exceptional writer and storyteller. You can take a complex technical product and turn it into a clear, compelling idea people remember.
  • You are deeply interested in content and distribution. You don't believe great content ends when you hit "publish."
  • You understand modern SEO and how discovery is evolving through AI tools and GEO.
  • You're comfortable with growth and performance marketing fundamentals and can run experiments yourself or effectively manage specialists when needed.
  • You know how to partner closely with sales and think about marketing as a revenue driver, not a separate brand function.
  • You're analytical enough to measure what's working without needing perfect attribution before making a decision.
  • You're comfortable moving between strategy and execution. You might define Spur's category narrative in the morning and rewrite a landing page yourself that afternoon.
  • You thrive in the ambiguity and pace of an early-stage startup and would rather create the playbook than inherit one.

Bonus points if you've marketed to e-commerce or consumer brands and already speak the language of the customers we serve.

The Team

Spur was founded by Sneha Sivakumar and Anushka, who bring deep technical and product experience from places including Figma and DeepMind.

We're a small team of high-leverage operators, including former founders and people who have worked inside the markets we serve. We care about being thoughtful, resourceful, close to our customers, and exceptionally good at our craft.

We've spent the last several years building technology that lets AI agents interact with applications the way real users do. Instead of maintaining brittle scripts, teams can simply describe an outcome such as "checkout an item and make sure the invoice arrives in the confirmation email," and Spur handles the execution and validation.

That technical foundation is now powering a much bigger opportunity: becoming the validation layer that consumer companies rely on to confidently ship every digital experience.

Location & Compensation

We're based in New York City and believe there's enormous value in building together in person, particularly at this stage of the company. We prefer someone who is excited to spend significant time with the team in NYC, while remaining open to discussing flexibility for an exceptional candidate.

The expected base salary range for this role is $160,000-$210,000, plus equity and benefits. We care more about finding an exceptional person than optimizing around a narrow compensation band.
