About the RoleThis is a founding engineering role at an early-stage AI startup applying computer vision and large language models to automate blueprint analysis and cost estimation in construction. You'll own the intelligence layer - building and shipping CV/ML systems that real users rely on - as a core member of a small, high-impact team.
What You'll Do- Drive R&D and development on the intelligence layer, not the application layer.
- Apply cutting-edge computer vision, LLM, and AI systems to real construction workflows.
- Ship working prototypes quickly, then iterate based on direct user feedback.
What We're Looking For- Hands-on applied CV/ML experience with Python, machine learning, deep learning, and computer vision.
- Demonstrated 0-to-1 builder who has shipped AI to production.
- Growth mindset - you prioritize trajectory and learning over credentials.
- Clear, empathetic communicator who is honest about what's working and what isn't.
- Comfortable doing "schlep" work - whatever it takes to move an early-stage product forward.
- US citizenship required (no visa sponsorship available).
- Bonus: experience building a product people used or paid for (founder or early startup experience).
- Bonus: background in construction or construction technology.
Compensation & BenefitsBase salary
$120,000 - $180,000 USD annually. Equity offered as part of the founding team package. No visa sponsorship available.
