About the RoleThis is a founding-level individual contributor role at an agentic integration platform serving the real economy, where agents perform real work with real consequences in production systems. You will own the agent layer end-to-end, working directly with the CTO to define how every agent gets built, measured, and improved. It is a rare opportunity to set the patterns for production-scale agentic systems at a stage where the playbook is still being written.
What You'll Do- Own the full agent layer: context engineering, self-learning systems, evals, the harness, and the meta-harness.
- Build a compounding knowledge base of undocumented systems so that each new integration is better than the last.
- Design and ship self-healing workflows where agents detect, diagnose, and autonomously recover from production failures.
- Build and maintain the meta-harness that lets the team create, evaluate, and evolve new agents in days.
- Set engineering patterns for how agentic systems are built and measured across the organisation.
- Help hire and grow the team that owns agentic systems, operating as a peer to the founders.
What We're Looking For- 2 to 9 years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong computer science or quantitative foundation.
- Hands-on experience building agentic software in the last year; this field moves fast and recency matters.
- Demonstrated experience building context or self-learning systems that improve agent performance from accumulated knowledge.
- Experience building autonomous failure detection, diagnosis, or self-healing production workflows.
- Deep familiarity with agent tracing, evals, and eval-driven iteration.
- Comfortable building reusable agent harnesses or meta-harnesses for rapidly creating and evolving agents.
- Proficiency in TypeScript and experience working with PostgreSQL and LLMs in production.
- Early-stage startup background, either as a founder or as an engineer at a well-backed seed or Series A company.
- Focused on shipping working systems, not research; implementation engineering is the job.
Compensation & BenefitsSalary range:
$150,000 to $300,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is available where an O-1 visa is a realistic path.
LocationOn-site, five days a week in
San Francisco, CA. US-based candidates with a concrete, dated relocation plan to San Francisco are also considered.
