What You'll DoThe Shift Technical Advisor is responsible for providing the technical expertise to understand the approved safety basis for operations of the facility and to evaluate the impact of proposed changes/modifications on the safe operation of the facility.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Serving as primary support team member for the Operations Manager and Shift Manager to ensure daily operations are safe, effective, and performed in accordance with approved procedures
- Interfacing with support organizations to understand planned operations within the facility and ensure activities are in compliance with facility safety basis authorized work
- Performing troubleshooting and improvement activities for emerging issues within the operations management scope of responsibility to resolve issues and improve effectiveness in implementation of compliance requirements
- Serving in a project management role as needed for coordination of large, cross-cutting activities within the facility that involve multiple interfaces that cross organizational lines
- Presenting technical briefings or presentations, as required, that describe and explain approved facility operations and compliance implementation methods
- Evaluating proposed modifications or changes against the approved Documented Safety Analysis via the Unreviewed Safety Question
- Determining process to ensure changes are within the scope and methods appropriate for the facility
- Provide on-call coverage for assigned weekends based upon a rotation with others in the group; on-call is as needed which may or may not require weekend work for the assigned weekend
Accountabilities:
- To the Operations Manager for evaluation and oversight of facility activities to ensure they are within the approved procedures and the safety basis of operations for the facility
- To the facility personnel for monitoring of facility conditions to ensure safe, compliant, and effective operations
Authorities:
- Authorized to represent operations management in evaluation of proposed facility modifications or changes in planned activities against facility safety basis
- Authorized to represent production in meetings to evaluate and identify implementation strategies for compliance requirements or changes to existing requirements

This position may require entry into the Material Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (10 C.F.R. Part 712), which requires successful competition of a DOE counterintelligence evaluation and may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination.
This position may be categorized as a "designated position" identified by 10 C.F.R. Part 709, requiring successful completion of a DOE counterintelligence evaluation that may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination.
Additional Qualifications/ResponsibilitiesMinimum Job Requirements- Bachelor's degree: Minimum 4 years of relevant experience. Typical experience ranging from 7 to 10 years.
- OR Master's degree: Minimum 3 years of relevant experience. Typical experience ranging from 7 to 10 years.
- OR PhD.
- In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (i.e., Baccalaureate in engineering or related scientific major, 2 years job-related, and 1-year nuclear experience; or a DOE O 426.2A alternative).
Preferred Job Requirements- Requires broad knowledge of plant facilities and operations and a demonstrated understanding of operations' principles and concepts
