Blue Origin is looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented Test Engineer to join our GEEx Test Engineering team. In this role, you will own the development, leadership, and execution of comprehensive test plans and procedures for integrated engine testing - directly supporting our mission to enable humans to live and work in space.

You'll thrive in a fast-paced test environment, applying your expertise in complex fluid systems troubleshooting to solve challenging problems with precision and rigor. Working alongside multidisciplinary teams, you will drive integrated system testing of engines and components from planning through execution, ensuring every system meets the uncompromising safety and reliability standards required for human spaceflight.

Leveraging advanced test methodologies and state-of-the-art instrumentation, you will play a critical role in system validation - and in upholding Blue Origin's enduring commitment to mission success.

Position Specific Details:
  • Shifts: 8-days on, 6-days off. Flexible to support 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM or 2:30 PM - 1:00 AM

Van Horn Specific Information

Being at the heart of Blue Origin operations, the West Texas Site in Van Horn, TX offers eligible employees additional attractive financial incentives to supplement their competitive base earnings, including a living allowance and relocation assistance. Eligibility for these additional benefits is based on the employee's ability to permanently relocate to Van Horn, TX. This position is not eligible for remote work.

Responsibilities
  • Lead daily test operations, operate test consoles, develop work instructions, direct technician work, and coordinate with both internal and external customers.
  • Apply direct experience to engine test planning and execution.
  • Design, procure, and install test support equipment; manage vendors and subcontractors during installation.
  • Troubleshoot issues that arise during testing.
  • Lead steam generation and/or vacuum system operations.
  • Process, reduce, and analyze test data to support post-test reviews.
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation including pressure transducers, thermocouples, silicon diodes, resistance temperature detectors, and accelerometers.
  • Identify and implement safety improvements and cost-reduction opportunities.
  • Drive continuous improvement of facility processes and automation systems.
  • Lead activation reviews, test readiness reviews, pre- and post-test briefings, and test data reviews.
  • Enforce safety policies during test planning and operations.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical Engineering, or related technical field from an accredited university.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience supporting test teams as a test engineer, console operator, or equivalent hands-on role.
  • Experience troubleshooting hardware and instrumentation related to fluid systems (hydraulics, pneumatics, cryogenics, or similar), with the ability to read schematics and P&IDs.
  • Experience developing, writing, and updating test procedures.
  • Strong technical writing and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary Root Cause and Corrective Action Boards.
  • Demonstrated leadership in project management or directing test activities.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted to the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience designing and operating cryogenic systems including liquid oxygen, liquid hydrogen, and liquefied natural gas.
  • Experience designing and operating pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, and electronics/control systems.
  • Extensive experience designing ground systems to meet ASME B31.3.
  • Extensive experience with process safety management (PSM) covered commodities.
  • Some experience in systems engineering practices, formal or informal.
  • Proficiency in LabVIEW, Python, MATLAB, or related control and data acquisition software.
