ABOUT THIS POSITION This role i s responsible for citywide coordination and administration of fleet and operational equipment training including applicable occupational health and safety training necessary for employees to perform their job. This ensures that the City of Phoenix maintains a safe and healthy workplace for its employees and complies with all current safety and health standards and regulations.
This position will assist in safety training efforts citywide, and report to the Fleet Safety Training and Curriculum Coordinator. The Fleet Safety Training Analyst works in groups and independently on assigned programs, training, and projects.
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Developing, updating, presenting, and documenting all fleet safety training. The fleet safety training programs are of a highly technical and complex nature.
- Operating the FMCSA-registered ELDT program and ADOT-approved CDL training and testing program for City of Phoenix employees.
- Serving as a certified third-party examiner for City of Phoenix employees including relevant endorsements such as Hazardous Materials (HME), tanker, triples and doubles, etc .
- Providing essential training on operational equipment, including forklifts, aerial lifts, backhoes, trailers, loaders, off-road vehicles, and scissor lifts, as well as defensive driver and collision-reduction training.
- Support fleet safety programs at a department level, providing program guidance to ensure regulatory compliance and minimize employee injuries and incidents.
- Perform applicable fleet and equipment related inspections, and assessments to identify, evaluate, and control occupational health and safety hazards.
IDEAL CANDIDATE - In-depth knowledge of commercial fleet and industrial equipment operation, along with the ability to train adult learners in their safe operation.
- In-depth knowledge of fleet safety practices, DOT regulations, ability to develop a working knowledge of how those practices and regulations apply to departments by learning the needs of the department and working directly with employees and management.
- Possession of a third party examiner certification or the ability to quickly obtain certification including the passing of all required background checks, training courses, and examinations
- Ability to develop open communication with staff at all levels of the organization to achieve a positive safety culture while taking a proactive approach to administering the fleet safety program.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Willing to work various days and hours and qualify to drive a city vehicle.
SALARY Pay Range: $78,166.40 to $109,969.60 annually.
Hiring Range: $78,166.40 to $90,450.20 annually.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Two years of experience in accident prevention and loss control programs.
- Including at least one year of professional work experience with department-wide safety and employee occupational health, training, and motor vehicle safety programs.
- Bachelor's degree in risk management, safety management, or a related field.
- Other combinations of education and experience which meets the minimum requirements may be substituted.
- All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position.
- Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
- Three or more years of current or former commercial drivers license (CDL) operation.
- Two or more years of experience in safety training curriculum development and facilitation to small and large groups in virtual, online, and in-person environments.
