Full Job Description
Role Summary:

Leads Housley Group fleet operations across construction, utility, and field-service business lines. Oversees approximately 200 vehicles plus heavy equipment support, drives lifecycle planning, maintenance readiness, compliance, and fleet cost control, and partners with operations leaders to keep crews productive and safe across Texas markets.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
• Manage day-to-day performance of company-owned and leased vehicles, trucks, trailers, and support equipment.
• Build preventive maintenance, inspection, and replacement plans that maximize uptime and reduce total cost of ownership.
• Lead vendor relationships for maintenance, fuel, telematics, rentals, and fleet purchasing.
• Monitor DOT, registration, insurance, licensing, and safety compliance across the fleet.
• Track utilization, downtime, repair trends, fuel spend, and lifecycle costs; provide monthly reporting and recommendations.
• Partner with field operations to align fleet capacity with project demand, storm response, and seasonal workload shifts.
• Standardize fleet policies, equipment assignment, driver accountability, and damage/loss reporting.
• Support accident review, root-cause follow-up, and corrective action planning.
• Evaluate telematics and fleet technology tools to improve visibility, routing, and preventive maintenance execution.
• Manage fleet budget and capital planning for replacements and additions.

Required Education, Skills & Experience:
  • 5-10 years of fleet, equipment, logistics, or transportation management experience; construction/utility experience strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent experience accepted.
  • Strong working knowledge of preventive maintenance programs, DOT/FMCSA, registration, licensing, and fleet safety requirements.
  • Experience managing outside vendors, service-level expectations, and fleet-related budgets.
  • Strong data skills with telematics, fleet software, Excel, and KPI reporting.
  • Ability to influence field leaders and balance service, cost, and compliance priorities.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional leadership skills.
