Pay Range: $134,000 - $184,000 per year

Job Overview:

The Fleet Director provides operational leadership and oversight of fleet management activities across RWJBH, including vehicle acquisition, maintenance, utilization, compliance, and lifecycle planning.

This role supports Mobile Health and system-wide operations by ensuring safe, cost-effective, and standardized fleet practices. The Fleet Manager partners closely with Supply Chain, Risk Management, Finance, and operational leaders to optimize total cost of ownership, vendor performance, and fleet utilization.

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field
  • 5-7 years of fleet management or operational leadership experience
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Finance, and Risk

Preferred:
  • Master's Degree
  • 8-10 years of progressive leadership experience in business operations, with experience in fleet management, logistics, IT, analytics, healthcare operations, and vendor management

Essential Functions:

Fleet Operations & Program Leadership
  • Lead the RWJBH Fleet Management Program, establishing standardized policies and procedures.
  • Oversee system-wide fleet utilization, performance metrics, and cost management.
  • Develop strategies to optimize fleet size, reduce operating costs, and improve asset utilization.
  • Support EMS & Patient Transport operational fleet needs.
Vehicle Acquisition, Lifecycle & Supply Chain Coordination
  • Oversee vehicle acquisition, transfer, reassignment, and disposal processes.
  • Partner with Supply Chain to:
    • Identify preferred vendors and sourcing strategies
    • Ensure competitive pricing and contract alignment
  • Evaluate total cost of ownership and lifecycle replacement strategies.
  • Approve vehicle requests based on operational justification and utilization data.
Maintenance, Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure all vehicles meet regulatory requirements (registration, inspection, insurance).
  • Oversee preventive maintenance programs and vendor performance.
  • Partner with Risk Management on insurance, claims, and accident management.
  • Maintain compliance documentation and audit readiness.
Fleet Utilization & Data Analytics
  • Utilize fleet management systems to monitor utilization, cost, and performance metrics.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce excess capacity and improve efficiency.
  • Develop reporting dashboards for leadership visibility and decision-making.
Fleet Card & Driver Program Oversight
  • Administer the fleet card program and ensure appropriate usage and controls.
  • Partner with HR to ensure driver compliance, licensing, and MVR requirements.
  • Expand driver safety programs and training compliance.
Courier & Transportation Coordination
  • Serve as business owner for the System Courier
