SALARY RANGE: 63,440.00 - 98,342.40 YEARLY
General Summary:The Fixed Asset Accountant is responsible for managing the organization's property, plant, and equipment (PP&E), including medical equipment, facilities, leasehold improvements, and construction projects. This role ensures accurate capitalization, depreciation, compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) (and where applicable, Medicare/Medicaid cost reporting requirements), and proper internal controls in a healthcare environment. The position plays a key role in month-end close, audit support, and regulatory reporting.
Responsibilities:1. Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset subledger to the general ledger for hospitals and related entities.
2. Record capital asset additions, disposals, transfers, and impairments, including high-value medical equipment (e.g., MRI, CT scanners, surgical equipment).
3. Calculate and post monthly depreciation and amortization.
4. Manage construction-in-progress (CIP) accounts related to facility expansions, renovations, and new healthcare sites; coordinate timely project capitalization.
5. Track and monitor leased assets in compliance with ASC 842 (lease accounting standards).
6. Support Medicare and Medicaid cost report preparation by providing depreciation schedules and asset data as required.
7. Perform periodic physical inventories and asset tagging, particularly for medical and clinical equipment.
8. Prepare fixed asset roll-forward schedules and audit-ready documentation for internal and external auditors.
9. Monitor asset impairments or disposals due to obsolescence, damage, or technology upgrades.
10. Collaborate with Facilities, Clinical Engineering, IT, and Supply Chain teams to ensure accurate asset tracking.
11. Maintain and update fixed asset accounting policies and internal controls in compliance with healthcare regulatory standards.
12. All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.
Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience:- Education: Bachelor Degree

- Experience: Required: 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in healthcare or a regulated industry.
Preferred: 5 years of accounting experience in healthcare or a regulated industry, including experience with construction accounting and large capital projects. Experience with hospital or healthcare ERP systems (e.g., Workday, Infor/Lawson, Oracle, SAP)
