The Callaway Energy Center is a nuclear facility located in mid-Missouri. About The Position

The Supervising Engineer supervises and coordinates the effort of engineers in the area of nuclear plant design, systems, programs or component engineering commensurate with good engineering practices and published engineering standards to ensure the safety of the public and plant personnel.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide engineering support to Callaway Energy Center in the areas of design, systems, programs or component engineering including use and sharing of operating experience, work prioritization, corrective action process, and training and qualifications.
  • Direct the preparation, review, and recommend the approval of procedures covering the activities associated with the workgroup.
  • Review and approve requisitions for material, equipment, and spare parts of plant equipment.
  • Establish the technical competence required for positions and evaluate the performance of personnel engaged in engineering activities.
  • Schedule work assignments of assigned personnel to ensure available personnel resources are commensurate with plant needs.
  • Ensure conformance with Quality Assurance procedures and Technical Specifications covering responsible activities and equipment.
  • Recommend procurement of outside assistance commensurate with group workload and expertise required.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution required. Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred. Current or previous nuclear operations experience, license or certificate (i.e. SRO, RO) preferred. Five or more years relevant engineering experience is required. Nuclear power plant engineering experience is preferred. Successful completion of a nuclear plant systems training program (such as the twelve-week concentrated programs offered by NSSS vendors) may be considered equivalent as one year nuclear power plant experience.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

Good leadership, decision-making, communication and human relations skills are required. After preliminary review, selected applicants must take the First Line Supervisor Test and obtain a recommended status in order to be eligible for additional selection procedures (e.g., interview) designated for this position. Security screening required for Callaway Energy Center access.

Working Conditions

The Supervising Engineer works a standard day shift in an office/plant environment. Additional hours and/or rotating shifts may be required during refueling outages and emergent plant activities as the needs arise.

Compensation Range:

$131,900.00 - $204,400.00

At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
