Overview / Summary

We are seeking a Product Engineer specializing in Fit and Finish to support vehicle product development and launch activities. This role focuses on validating interior and exterior part-to-part fit and finish, analyzing dimensional data, conducting perceived quality and craftsmanship audits, identifying quality and coordination issues, and supporting timely issue resolution throughout vehicle build events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Measure vehicle-level interior and exterior part-to-part margins and flushness to confirm compliance with build requirements.
  • Review completed vehicles to evaluate fit and finish.
  • Perform Perceived Quality Reviews using established audit checklists.
  • Lead Critical to Quality (CTQ) and Perceived Quality (PQ) audits during vehicle launch phases.
  • Summarize and document vehicle compliance at each applicable build event.
  • Generate issue lists and coordinate binning sessions with cross-functional teams following audit completion.
  • Lead CTQ issue generation and issue tracking updates.
  • Analyze part dimensional data during vehicle build phases and perform OK-to-Grain assessments to support pre-graining approvals.
  • Review dimensional data and provide final AAR approval.
  • Work with engineering, supplier, and launch teams to track and resolve fit and finish issues.
  • Navigate and review CAD data to evaluate clearances, packaging, and interior/exterior part interfaces.
  • Analyze dimensional quality reports, gap and flush data, and launch quality metrics.
  • Conduct physical craftsmanship audits, fit-and-finish evaluations, and supplier quality part reviews.
  • Support product launch activities, including required travel.

Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of automotive Body Interior/Exterior-related experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Knowledge of GD&T and experience performing physical dimensioning on vehicles.
  • Experience navigating and reviewing CAD data using CATIA and Teamcenter.
  • Teamcenter and VisMockup knowledge equivalent to a designer role.
  • Experience analyzing dimensional quality reports, gap and flush data, and craftsmanship launch metrics/KPIs.
  • Experience conducting physical craftsmanship audits, fit-and-finish evaluations, and supplier quality part reviews.
  • Demonstrated track record of project delivery and cross-system problem solving.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Proficient reading, writing, and conversational English.
  • Associate degree required.
  • Ability to travel to support product launches.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Six Sigma Green Belt.
  • Experience applying DMAIC methodology and root-cause analysis tools to resolve launch fit-and-finish issues.
  • Bachelor's degree.
