A Day in the LifeFirmware Engineer II
As a Software Engineer II you will be part of our Device Embedded Systems team responsible for designing, developing and verifying embedded software applications used in implantable cardiac medical devices.
Your entrepreneurial mindset and technical skills will be used, creating solutions that meet business needs and optimizing customer experience directly impacting the organization and affecting the lives of millions.
This position is in Mounds View, MN. within the Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) Operating Unit. We are working on-site 4 days per week as part of our commitment to fostering a culture of professional growth and cross-functional collaboration as we work together to engineer the extraordinary. This role will require less than 10% of travel to enhance collaboration and ensure successful completion of projects.
A DAY IN THE LIFE:- Develop and test embedded software as part of a system, document and troubleshoot issues, and work with instrument and hardware functions
- Use a variety of software troubleshooting tools, including off-the-shelf and custom-built
- Apply appropriate standards, processes, procedures and tools throughout the system development lifecycle
- Work well independently and with cross-functional engineering disciplines
Qualifications-MUST HAVE - MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS ROLE, PLEASE BE SURE THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS ARE EVIDENT ON YOUR RESUME
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline and a minimum of 2 years of Firmware Development experience OR a Master's degree with a minimum of 0 years of Firmware Development experience
Nice to Have- Embedded software development experience in C/C++
- Ability to write and interpret test scripts in C/C++
- Specific knowledge of embedded systems, interpreting specifications
- Specific knowledge of implantable medical devices
- Specific knowledge of Bluetooth
- Experience working in Windows and Linux environments
- Experience with real-time operating systems
- Ability to work in a team environment with strong collaboration skills

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$100,000.00 - $150,000.00
This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
