Compensation: $33.65-$57.69Position Summary
The
Fire Alarm Technician is responsible for the service, inspection, and repair of fire alarm systems for FEI's established customer base. This role requires strong technical knowledge, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to maintain compliance with all applicable fire codes and regulations.
The ideal candidate is a licensed technician with hands-on experience in fire alarm testing, programming, and service. This is a
field-based position that also supports project coordination and customer interaction as needed.Key Responsibilities
- Perform on-site service, inspections, and repairs of fire alarm systems for scheduled customers.
- Conduct system testing and inspections to prescribed standards and applicable codes.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot system faults and wiring issues; perform repairs as needed.
- Identify code compliance and non-conformance issues and communicate solutions to customers.
- Program and configure fire alarm panels, devices, and control equipment.
- Complete accurate and timely service reports, inspection forms, and documentation.
- Present a professional appearance and maintain excellent customer service on every job.
- Remain available for on-call support and after-hours emergency response when scheduled.
- Collaborate with other technicians, project managers, and office staff to ensure customer satisfaction and efficient operations.
Qualifications- Valid Connecticut or Massachusetts Class D/ Low Voltage License required.
- Additional licenses preferred: MA Electrician License, RI or CT Fire Alarm License.
- Minimum 2 years of experience servicing, inspecting, or installing fire alarm systems.
- Strong understanding of applicable NFPA fire codes and local regulations.
- Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work an 8-hour shift with on-call and overtime availability.
Education & Certification Requirements- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid Driver's License required.
- OSHA 10 Certification preferred.
- Ongoing manufacturer or code training a plus.
