Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly consolidated financial reporting packages.
  • Assist in drafting quarterly and annual footnote disclosures and MD&A.
  • Create and maintain workpapers for all SEC filings containing financial information.
  • Support Investor Relations in developing the quarterly earnings release.
  • Coordinate comments from legal, finance, management, and external auditors during SEC filing cycles.
  • Assist with maintaining and updating XBRL tagging for relevant filings.
  • Complete quarterly and annual GAAP and SEC disclosure checklists.
  • Prepare responses to requests from external auditors and coordinate the audit support process.
  • Assist with journal entries related to non-recurring and complex accounting transactions.
  • Support SOX controls and the financial reporting sub-certification process.
  • Conduct technical accounting research related to significant transactions and new accounting standards.

Full Job Description
Financial Reporting Manager

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Financial Reporting Manager to support the preparation and filing of our quarterly and annual SEC reports. The ideal candidate is highly focused, knowledgeable in U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations, and ready to dive into the financial reporting processes of our rapidly growing company. This role reports to the Senior Director, Financial Reporting & Systems and provides support across a wide range of technical accounting and reporting activities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will be able to work out of our Herndon, VA location in a hybrid capacity.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly consolidated financial reporting packages, including Balance Sheets, Statements of Operations, and Statements of Cash Flows.
  • Assist in drafting quarterly and annual footnote disclosures and Management's Discussion & Analysis (MD&A).
  • Create and maintain workpapers and supporting documentation for all SEC filings containing financial information (including 10-K, 10-Q, proxy statements, and 8-K filings).
  • Support Investor Relations in developing the quarterly earnings release.
  • Coordinate and address comments from legal, finance, management, and external auditors throughout SEC filing cycles.
  • Assist with maintaining and updating XBRL tagging for all relevant filings.
  • Complete quarterly and annual GAAP and SEC disclosure checklists.
  • Prepare responses to requests from external auditors and coordinate the audit support process.
  • Assist with journal entries related to non-recurring and complex accounting transactions.
  • Support SOX controls and the financial reporting sub-certification process.
  • Conduct technical accounting research related to significant transactions and new accounting standards.
  • Serve as an administrator for OneStream consolidations.
  • Maintain and update BlackSky's accounting policies.
  • Assess accounting implications of new accounting pronouncements and assist in implementing required changes across the accounting organization and broader company.
  • Perform other accounting and finance duties as needed.
  • Complete other job-related responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is required.
  • Candidates must have a currently active CPA license.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in public company audit, financial reporting and/or technical accounting.

The anticipated base salary range for this role is $120,000 - $150,000 per year. The final compensation package offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on specific background and education. BlackSky is a multi-state employer, and this pay scale may not reflect salary ranges in other states or locations outside of Herndon, VA.
