Overview

Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity for a Financial Reporting Analyst.  This position could be based in any of our U.S. offices (Austin; Chicago; Boston; Houston; Los Angeles; New York; Menlo Park; Orange County; Portland; Sacramento; San Francisco; Santa Monica; Seattle; Washington DC; or Wheeling, WV) and consideration given for 100% remote US locations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop ad-hoc financial reporting for various firm functional areas including but not limited to Finance, Business Development, Attorney Development, Human Resources, Business Units, Practice groups and Firm Leadership
  • Creation of new reports and reporting tools using Power BI, PowerApps, SSRS, MS SQL, ASP.Net, Excel VBA and CMS DocuDraft
  • Automated and manual distribution of reporting through various industry and in-house tools and systems
  • Participation in the Month-End close process to include but not limited to financial system reconciliation, data verification and publication of reporting
  • Support and maintain in-house finance reporting software
  • Troubleshoot and/or improve existing reports
  • Assist with application upgrade projects
  • Play an active role in UI and back-end testing
  • Provide support and training for Finance and firm staff on tools and systems developed for financial reporting
  • Provide accurate and timely financial data reporting to various functional areas throughout the firm to support daily processes, financial analysis and special projects
  • Support financial tools and systems on and manage security rights for various user groups
  • Work with applications support group to provide high level troubleshooting and technical support to all firm users
  • Promote open communication with users and with department managers
  • Continually seek to improve the customer service provided to users by Business Systems Support Group

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting/Finance, Computer Science, Business, Information Systems or related field or equivalent work experience  
  • Three or more years of related experience is required; prior experience working in a professional services environment is desirable
  • Previous law firm experience strongly desired
  • General understanding of financial reporting and accounting principles
  • Experience with Power BI report design methods, standards and data structure desired
  • Expert knowledge of SSRS, MS SQL, stored procedures and Excel VBA
  • Knowledge of Aderant Expert/CMS DocuDraft desirable but not required
  • Familiarity with data transfer principles and techniques
  • Expert knowledge of Excel queries, pivot tables
  • Marked ability to meet project requirements and deadlines and to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Advanced inter-personal skills; professional and customer-service oriented demeanor
  • Knowledge of Aderant Expert CMS, Elite Enterprise, Elite 3E or other professional services firm financial applications is highly desirable
  • Power BI and PowerApps skills a definite plus
  • Source control software (MS Visual SourceSafe, SourceGear and/or DevOps) preferred

Compensation and Benefits

 

The expected salary range for this position:  

  • California Major Markets* $79,000 - $125,000
  • New York City $86,000 - $125,000
  • National $74,000 - $96,000

* California Major Markets includes San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Los Angeles, Orange County, Santa Monica.  All other California locations fall within National range.

 

Orrick is committed to providing a comprehensive, competitive, and thoughtful total compensation package to our attorneys and staff, wherever they work. This compensation and benefits information is based on the Orrick’s estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant experience or education, particular skills or expertise, geography.  Other compensation may include an annual discretionary merit bonus, which would be determined by Firm and individual performance.
