Description
The
Financial Planning and Analysis - Operations acts as the direct financial partner to our manufacturing and plant leadership teams. This role is responsible for tracking day-to-day facility performance, optimizing production costs, and managing capital expenditure (CapEx) budgets across our operational footprint. Analyzes labor efficiency, plant utilization, and manufacturing overhead to identify cost-saving opportunities and drive operational productivity.
Pay Range: $90,000 - $105,000 + bonus
Hours: 8:00am to 5:00pm
Schedule: Monday to Friday
Location: Fresno, CA
Travel Requirements: Up to 15%
Work environment available: In Office
Requirements
Core Responsibilities: - Plant Performance Tracking: Monitor daily and weekly plant metrics, labor efficiency, machine downtime, yield, and production throughput against financial targets
- Manufacturing Cost Analysis: Analyze cost of goods sold (COGS), focusing on manufacturing overhead (MOH) allocation, maintenance expenses, and utility costs
- Variance & Efficiency Analysis: Calculate and explain production variances, including labor rate/efficiency variances and volume overhead absorption gaps.
- Operational Forecasting & Capacity: Help build rolling operational forecasts that link production capacity and labor headcount planning directly to financial outcomes.
- CapEx & Project ROI: Partner with engineering and operations teams to model financial return (ROI) on plant equipment upgrades and facility expansions.
- Assist in analysis and preparation of production related KPIs to build annual budget.
- Gather information from disparate sources. Organize and present such information in a coherent and consistent format. Summarize key takeaways.
- Investigate variances between actual, forecasts, and budget to understand trends and potential risks and opportunities.
- Drive continuous process improvements in reporting, forecasting, and budgeting activities through automation, system enhancements, consolidation, and data quality improvement.
- Recommend actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses; studying proposed changes in methods and materials.
- Work with employees of Lyons Magnus in a positive and constructive manner to maintain a professional relationship. Demonstrates courtesy, discretion, friendliness and diplomacy.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: - Experience in providing financial analysis/cost-accounting in a manufacturing environment; preferably in food and beverage industry
- Solid understanding of cost accounting in a standard cost environment
- Intermediate to Advanced level skills in excel, Access, MS Word
- Knowledge of integrated manufacturing accounting software package
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Excellent organizational, planning, and overall time management skills. Must be able to work on a variety of projects simultaneously and prioritize work.
- Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
- Strong ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting from an accredited university.
- 7+ years' experience in progressively responsible financial leadership roles, preferably in food and beverage industry.
