Role SummaryThe Financial Planning Analyst supports Alaska Airlines' Financial Planning & Analysis team by delivering financial insights, models, and performance analysis that inform business decisions and cost management. This role partners with leaders and cost center owners to support planning, forecasting, reporting, and financial initiatives in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment. Responsibilities and scope scale based on experience, from analytical execution to leading complex financial projects and influencing strategic outcomes.
Key DutiesFinancial Planning Analyst I- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and performance drivers.
- Support development of forecasts, budgets, and financial models.
- Prepare recurring and ad hoc financial reports for stakeholders.
- Assist with variance analysis and explains drivers of financial performance.
- Collaborate with cost center owners to gather inputs and validate assumptions.
- Contribute to process improvements and support operational efficiency initiatives.
Financial Planning Analyst II - Analyze financial results and identify key drivers, trends, and risks.
- Develop forecasts, budgets, and financial models with limited supervision.
- Provide insights and recommendations to support business decision-making.
- Partner cross-functionally on planning, budgeting, and performance management.
- Build and enhance reporting tools and dashboards.
- Support strategic initiatives and evaluate financial impact of business decisions.
Financial Planning Analyst III- Lead complex financial analysis, forecasting, and modeling efforts.
- Develop scenario analyses and provide strategic recommendations.
- Partner with senior leadership to guide financial planning and performance.
- Identify risks and opportunities and influence decision-making outcomes.
- Drive process improvements and enhance financial reporting capabilities.
- Mentor junior analysts and provides subject matter expertise.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & SkillsFinancial Planning Analyst I Required- Bachelor's degree with a focus in finance, accounting, economics, or related field, or two years of experience in finance, accounting, investment banking, or related area in lieu of this degree.
- Working knowledge of accounting/finance fundamentals.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and databases in general, including experience with a variety of Excel's math functions and pivot tables.
Financial Planning Analyst IIRequired- 2 years of experience in finance, accounting, investment banking, or related area.
- Bachelor's degree with a focus in finance, accounting, economics, or related field, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
- Working knowledge of accounting/finance fundamentals.
- Self-starter with the ability to set and balance priorities, work independently and take ownership.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and databases in general, including experience with a variety of Excel's math functions and pivot tables.
Financial Planning Analyst IIIRequired- 4 years of experience in finance, accounting, investment banking, or related area.
- Bachelor's degree with a focus in finance, accounting, economics, or related field, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
- Experience using net present value (NPV) and associated calculations as a decision-making tool.
- Experience with cash flow and balance sheet metrics as well as activity-based costing.
- Knowledge of reporting fundamentals.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly with Excel (and large datasets) and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication skills, with an ability to explain complex concepts to audiences of varying organizational levels, including executive management.
Required at all levels - High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum age of 18.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Salary Range$66,000-$149,800 / year
Pay DetailsFinancial Analyst I (Exempt): $66,000 - $92,400
Financial Analyst II (Exempt): $78,300 - $117,450
Senior Financial Analyst/Financial Analyst III (Exempt): $99,850 - $149,800
Salary DetailsPay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon employees. Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.
