What You Will Do:

This position will reside in Guidehouse’s Defense and Security Financial Management (FM) practice supporting Department of War clients. You will support initiatives that transform core financial management functions and operations. Our finance transformation consultants help our clients across the Department of War optimize all elements of their technical data structures and automations by transforming business processes and enhancing the efficiency of technical data operations. 

This role focuses on driving finance and accounting excellence through leveraging technology solutions to deliver actionable insights, enhance operational efficiency, enable auditability, and modernize financial processes in alignment with federal standards. This role focuses on application architecture, data integration, metadata management, and platform optimization to ensure scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions that support mission-critical operations. 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Design, develop, and maintain back-end applications and services supporting federal financial management transformation initiatives. 

  • Support product enhancement efforts by evaluating existing system capabilities and implementing scalable technical improvements. 

  • Develop and support forward-deployed technology solutions embedded within client environments to address evolving mission needs. 

  • Analyze and optimize data structures, database schemas, and application architecture to improve system performance and maintainability. 

  • Design, implement, and maintain metadata management strategies that improve data governance, traceability, and usability. 

  • Develop and maintain APIs, data pipelines, and system integrations that enable reliable movement and exchange of enterprise data. 

  • Collaborate with front-end developers, data engineers, financial management SMEs, and program teams to design integrated technical solutions. 

  • Troubleshoot application issues, identify root causes, and implement sustainable technical solutions. 

  • Develop technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and system design artifacts. 

  • Support Agile development activities, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, code reviews, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives. 


What You Will Need:

  • Must be able to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a Federal or DoD "SECRET" security clearance; candidates must obtain approved adjudication of clearance prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an ACTIVE "SECRET" or higher-level clearance are preferred. 

  • Bachelor's degree 

  • Minimum SIX (6) years of experience in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, Logistics or Business Management. 


What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • An ACTIVE and MAINTAINED "SECRET" Federal or DoD security clearance. 

  • Advanced degree, Databricks, PowerBI, Azure, AWS or other data engineering-related certifications. 

  • Experience with DoW financial systems such as Advana / War Data Platform, GFEBS, LMP, FASTR, DEAMS, DAI, and Navy ERP. 

  • Prior experience supporting federal financial management, audit readiness, or CFO functions within DoW or similar agencies (e.g., USSGL, SFIS, TFM, DoW FMR). 

  • Experience with data analytics, automation, and AI tools. 

  • Experience in data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Qlik), familiarity with data platforms (e.g., Databricks), and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure). 

  • Strong Core Technological Skills in: Python, SQL, Microsoft Dataverse (CDS), Power Apps, Power Automate, Databricks, and PowerBI. 

  • Experience with ETL pipelines, integration of data sources, and big data processing.  

  • Experience refactoring and optimizing legacy code. 

  • Understanding of metadata management, data governance, and enterprise data architecture principles. 

  • Strong communication and ability to synthesize complex information and deliver high-impact solutions in fast-paced environments.
