Full Job Description
Role Summary
We are looking for a Financial Controller to join our Finance team and oversee all accounting operations while supporting financial planning and analysis. This is a hands-on role in a dynamic, startup environment. Your days will be fast-paced and filled with ever-evolving challenges (and pooches)!

Key Responsibilities

General Accounting
  • Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts receivables, accounts payables, payroll, sales, and inventory
  • Manage and oversee all financial reporting processes, including preparing the monthly financial reporting package and maintaining accurate and up-to-date accounting records
  • Lead audit, compliance, and covenant reporting processes
  • Liaise with tax advisors to ensure timely completion of all filings
  • Oversee payroll administration, including employee expense management
  • Directly manage and support a Senior Accounting Specialist and AP Specialist, providing coaching and guidance on key accounting procedures


Financial Analysis & Reporting
  • Lead management reporting across business units, including monthly budget-to-actual variance analysis
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual budget
  • Continuously improve financial modelling techniques, tools, and reporting processes


What You Bring
  • 2-3 years of experience in a mid-to-large accounting firm; additional experience at a private company is an asset.
  • CPA designation (or in progress), with strong knowledge of ASPE standards
  • University degree in Business, Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
  • Financial modelling and analytical skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy
  • Proven ability to deliver thorough, well-reasoned and reliable financial results
  • Proficient in Excel; experience with QuickBooks and/or Unleashed is an asset
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated people-management experience
