Financial Analyst
Shaw Construction | Department: Accounting | Reports To: Chief Financial Officer | Classification: Exempt

Job Summary
The Financial Analyst supports the Company's financial planning and analysis functions, including forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis, as well as income tax calculations and forecasting, systems implementations, and various ad hoc responsibilities. This role requires a strong grasp of financial accounting and reporting fundamentals, sharp analytical skills, and excellent communication with departments across the Company.

Duties and Responsibilities
Forecasting
  • Update external and internal billing forecasts monthly for six operating companies
  • Provide analysis and support for monthly financial forecast updates

Budgeting
  • Assist in managing the annual budget process, collaborating with department heads and rolling up budgets for executive review
  • Perform periodic budget-to-actual analysis and prepare commentary for executive review
  • Perform periodic budget updates as needed

Income Taxes
  • Prepare annual tax reconciliations and supporting workpapers for four tax reporting entities
  • Prepare quarterly taxable income forecasts for estimated tax distributions
  • Coordinate Section 179D deduction studies

Analysis
  • Perform periodic Indirect Cost and G&A analysis
  • Perform cost analysis to support contract rate development (equipment, insurance, bonds)
  • Perform working capital, capital, and key ratio analysis
  • Perform ad hoc financial and utilization analysis as needed

Other Reporting
  • Compile the Monthly Management Team report
  • Assemble the quarterly bank financial reporting package, including borrowing base certificate and covenant analysis
  • Respond to owner/bank requests for financial statements

Special Projects
  • Assist with chart of accounts conversion
  • Assist with implementation of FP&A platform, Prophix

Other
  • Coordinate with outside counsel on timely, accurate annual government filings
  • Manage previous participation requests for HUD projects
  • Respond to Marketing Department survey requests
  • Assist with subcontractor prequalification

Education/Experience
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Minimum 7 years of financial accounting and reporting experience
  • Solid grasp of GAAP
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook

Preferred:
  • Construction, homebuilding, or similar industry experience
  • Viewpoint Vista
  • Prophix

Compensation
  • Pay Type: Salary, Exempt
  • Pay Range: $95,000-$105,000
  • Other Compensation: bonus eligibility
