Position Status

  • This is a newly created position to support the continued growth of the organization.


Compensation

  • Eligibility for base pay ranging from $100,000 to $115,000 CAD, commensurate with experience and skillset.


Summary/Objective

This role is responsible for supporting financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and analytical activities across a multi-location portfolio of funeral homes, cemeteries, and cremation businesses. The Senior Financial Analyst provides financial insights to support operational performance, strategic decision-making, and acquisition activities. They work cross-functionally with operations, accounting, and corporate leadership and requires an understanding of multi-entity.

Essential Functions

  • Leads monthly, quarterly, and annual close analysis including variance commentary and performance insights.
  • Compiles and owns reporting packages for Senior Leadership, Board of Directors, and our ownership group.
  • Assists in compiling a monthly letter detailing the financial performance for the month.
  • Analyzes financial results and key KPIs to support operational and strategic decisions.
  • Owns and enhances the annual budgeting process and rolling forecasts for +250 operating locations across Canada and the US.
  • Builds and maintains robust financial models to support business planning, investment decisions, and M&A activity.
  • Partners with cross-functional leaders to evaluate business performance and identify opportunities for growth and efficiency.
  • Supports preparation of board presentations, investor materials, and strategic analyses.
  • Acts as a trusted advisor to Senior Leadership by providing data-driven recommendations.
  • Collaborates directly with Senior Leadership on financial strategies, performance tracking, and key initiatives.
  • Supports ad hoc analysis and special projects with high visibility across the organization
  • Leverages financial systems (e.g., OneStream or similar) to enhance reporting accuracy and efficiency.
  • Identifies opportunities to automate and streamline reporting and improve financial processes.
  • Ensures data integrity across systems and reporting outputs.
  • Performs projects and other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Experience, Certifications and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline.
  • 5-7+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, financial reporting, or corporate finance.
  • Experience in multi-entity or consolidated environments.
  • Current and valid passport and ability to travel between U.S. and Canada.


Preferred Education, Experience, Certifications and Licensure

  • Professional designation (CPA or pursuing) strongly preferred.


Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Able to read, write and speak English fluently. Bilingual is a plus.
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with financial systems (e.g., OneStream, Hyperion, or similar).
  • Experience with Power BI, Power Query, SQL, Intacct.
  • Strong financial modeling and analytical capabilities
  • Experience with financial modeling and forecasting for multi-location organizations
  • Experience working directly with Senior Leadership
  • Skill to analyze data and provide recommendations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Must be able to work independently, prioritizing and meeting multiple deadlines.
  • Experience supporting multi-location or multi-entity organizations.
  • Ability to interpret financial data and communicate findings effectively.
