What We Can Achieve Together:The Finance Specialist provides specialized financial management services including accounting, budgeting, reporting and private award administration; The position administers and maintains finance/accounting activities in accordance with TNC policies, procedures and best practices in financial management. The Finance Specialist provides assistance to staff including finance colleagues, budget managers and other functional staff, such as contracts and grants partners. They respond to moderately complex employee/management questions and problems based on advanced knowledge of their subject area and work with other finance team members to successfully deliver on overall finance and compliance goals.
Responsibilities & Scope:
- Coordinate multiple projects and deliverable outcomes on a timely basis.
- Prepare and monitor budgets, financial reports and communicate financial information to project staff.
- Prepare journal entries and other financial transactions.
- Maintain BU financial data, including journal entries, adjustments, and project records
- Research transactions, prepare ad hoc reports, and identify follow-up actions as needed
- Financial reporting and administration of private awards.
- State and local tax filings, as needed.
- Reporting and compliance/tax for related entities (LLCs), if applicable.
- Ensuring programmatic commitments, TNC policies and procedures, financial standards and legal requirements are met and managed for compliance.
- Back-up support for accounts payable and accounts receivable.

What You'll Bring:- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field and 3 years' related experience or equivalent combination.
- Experience manipulating, analyzing, and interpreting data.
- Experience with accounting/financial issues and analysis.
- Experience using accounting and financial reporting systems, Workday preferred.
- Advanced expertise in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with GAAP and fund accounting principles, practices and regulations and/or International Financial Reporting Standards (IRFS) (Canada).
- Experience organizing time and managing diverse activities to meet deadlines.

- Non-profit accounting experience.
- Experience with The Nature Conservancy's policies, procedures, and financial systems.

- Experience using technology to achieve desired results.
Salary Information:The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $71,200.00 - $90,780.00. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate's actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market and not tied to USA pay or ranges.
