Role Purpose

The Operations Controller serves as the finance partner to the VP, Manufacturing and provides overall operations finance leadership for the segment, including support for manufacturing performance across multiple sites. This role is responsible for driving financial execution, improving cost performance and operating efficiency, strengthening forecasting and planning processes, and ensuring strong linkage between finance and operations. The Operations Controller will champion business partnership within manufacturing and help implement finance processes and performance insights that support operational and strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive business results: understands how the business fits into the broader marketplace; identifies opportunities for business performance; able to identify and convey the critical variables that drive business impact
  • Partner with the manufacturing and finance leadership teams to achieve financial commitments and drive cost performance / operating efficiencies. Drive consistent implementation of transparent cost metrics and analysis. Articulate problem statements and work through "AAA" methodology. Help businesses define "should be" cost performance.
  • Ensure tight linkage between finance and operations: Strengthen forecast processes across the businesses in partnership with FP&A. Drive best practices and SAP optimization of cost understanding (leveraging Corning experts). Drive digital efforts in conjunction with business teams and IT (also leveraging Corning experts).
  • Engage with business teams, quickly establish oneself as a "trusted partner" through hands-on engagement
  • Change agent: challenges the status quo; encourages people to question existing methods, practices, and assumptions; lead / support process improvement initiatives as needed


Education/Experience/Skills

  • 10-15+ years of relevant financial leadership experience
  • Strong relevant academic credentials; ideally Bachelor of Science or equivalent with concentration in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA/MBA or other equivalent certification desired
  • Strong analytical, financial & mathematical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; adept at synthesizing critical information into a clear business case narrative
  • Extensive experience developing and implementing strategies to improve business performance
  • Proven track record successfully managing finance operations and planning / forecast processes
  • Experience serving as expert adviser to resolve and advise on ambiguous and unstructured senior management requests, applying macroeconomic thinking and identifying potential risks
  • Self-starter and able perform in a fast-paced environment


Travel Requirements

  • 10-25% travel

The range for this position is $158,902.00 - $218,490.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
