Full Job Description
The CMO Finance Director is the strategic finance leader responsible for partnering with commercial, marketing, procurement, and enterprise stakeholders to shape, steer, and deliver the financial performance of the CMO portfolio. This role leads in-year delivery, owns the Investment Review process, manages the total media budget envelope, and provides financial leadership across portfolio optimization, enterprise initiatives, innovation programs, procurement opportunities, and long-range planning.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & CMO Partnership
  • Serve as a senior finance partner to CMO leadership, providing strategic insight, challenge, and financial guidance to drive performance, growth, and enterprise value.
  • Lead in-year delivery for the CMO portfolio, actively managing risks and opportunities and ensuring clear financial ownership across key performance drivers.
  • Own and lead the Investment Review process, ensuring robust governance, financial discipline, and clear decision support for investment choices.
  • Act as a trusted adviser influencing critical business decisions, including media investment, portfolio prioritization, resource allocation, and financial trade-offs.


Media Budget Management & Financial Governance
  • Own the total media budget envelope, including planning timeline, input validation, financial impact assessment, and co-approval with leadership.
  • Partner with Marketing, Commercial, and Finance stakeholders to ensure media investment plans are financially sound, strategically aligned, and performance focused.
  • Provide transparency and accountability across media spend, ensuring effective governance, disciplined resource allocation, and alignment to business priorities.
  • Support scenario planning and investment choices that optimize returns across categories, brands, and enterprise priorities.


Planning, Forecasting & Performance Management
  • Support Long Range Planning, providing financial insight, assumptions, and guidance to shape sustainable growth and value creation.
  • Drive accuracy and consistency in forecast submissions, ensuring risks, opportunities, and key drivers are clearly understood and actively managed.
  • Provide clear, insight-rich financial narratives to support leadership reviews, business planning, and decision-making.


Portfolio Optimization & Enterprise Support
  • Drive portfolio optimization by providing financial analysis, plan-setting guidance, and recommendations to improve investment effectiveness and business outcomes.
  • Support cross-category enterprise and corporate initiatives, ensuring financial implications, trade-offs, and opportunities are clearly understood.
  • Partner across categories and functions to embed consistent financial decision-making, improve ways of working, and strengthen enterprise alignment.
  • Provide financial leadership for innovation programs, including PMB support, business case development, and investment evaluation.


Procurement, Controls & Financial Health
  • Lead finance support for procurement initiatives, including contract negotiations, supplier-related financial analysis, and value creation opportunities.
  • Partner with Procurement and business leaders to evaluate commercial terms, financial impact, and negotiation outcomes.
  • Oversee balance sheet provisions and reviews, ensuring appropriate governance, accuracy, and compliance with internal controls.
  • Maintain strong financial stewardship across spend, provisions, controls, and reporting requirements.


Required Experience & Capabilities

Technical & Functional Expertise
  • Proven experience in commercial finance, marketing finance, or financial leadership supporting complex, multi-brand portfolios.
  • Strong command of financial planning, forecasting, budget management, investment governance, and performance management.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage significant budget envelopes and translate financial insights into actionable business recommendations.
  • Experience supporting Long Range Planning, portfolio optimization, procurement initiatives, and innovation investment decisions.


Leadership & Influence
  • Executive-level presence with the ability to influence and challenge senior leaders constructively.
  • Strong financial judgement and ability to lead through ambiguity, competing priorities, and complex trade-off decisions.
  • Ability to simplify complex financial topics and communicate clearly across senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive accountability, align stakeholders, and support enterprise-wide decision-making.


Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
  • Ability to partner effectively across Marketing, Commercial, Procurement, Enterprise Finance, Innovation, and Category teams.
  • Skilled at building trusted relationships and driving alignment across a complex matrix environment.
  • Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and influencing skills, with the ability to balance functional priorities and enterprise outcomes.


*This role is based in Warren, NJ, and follows a hybrid model, requiring an in-office presence of 3 days per week.

Basic Qualifications:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
  • Bachelor's degree plus a professional qualification, such as CPA, CIMA, ACCA, or local equivalent
  • Previous Commercial Finance, Marketing Finance, or FP&A experience
  • Experience managing complex budgets, forecasts, and investment planning processes
  • Experience partnering with senior stakeholders in a matrixed organization
  • Professional finance experience at a senior level


Preferred Qualifications:
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
  • MBA or further graduate studies
  • Proven finance partnering skills in a commercial, media, or marketing-led environment
  • Experience managing large budget envelopes, including media, A&P, or brand investment spend
  • Demonstrated financial knowledge of modelling, analysis, evaluation, forecasting, strategic planning, and decision-making at a senior level
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience providing management insight and value-added analysis for complex business issues
  • Relationship builder with the ability to influence across functions and develop others
  • Ability to effectively use negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Capability to lead, influence, and work in a complex matrix environment


The salary range for this role is: $187,809 - $ 258,237 USD annually plus an annual bonus.
