Finance Director | Harry Meyering Center

HMC is seeking a Finance Director to join its senior leadership team and help shape the future of a mission-driven organization dedicated to empowering people to live meaningful, independent lives.

Location: On-site with limited Hybrid days per pay period
Schedule: Monday through Friday, business hours
Wage: $90,000 to $120,000

What You'll Do
  • Strategic Leadership & Organizational Partnership
    Serve as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, partnering with the Executive Director to shape financial strategy, guide organizational decision-making, and ensure alignment between mission, goals, and financial sustainability. Provide regular financial insights to the Board and actively support Finance Committee planning and engagement.
  • Team Leadership & Culture Development
    Lead and develop Finance, Accounting, and Maintenance teams, fostering a collaborative, values-driven culture. Coach, mentor, and evaluate staff, promote continuous improvement, and support organizational learning, growth, and change initiatives.
  • Financial Strategy, Planning & Oversight
    Oversee all aspects of financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and performance analysis. Ensure strong internal controls, audit readiness, and compliance while managing cash flow, investments, contributed revenue, and key financial relationships. Drive efficiency and effectiveness across systems, processes, and technology investments.
  • Asset & Facilities Management
    Direct the management of housing and facilities, including maintenance operations, capital planning, vendor coordination, and regulatory compliance. Oversee asset management strategies, property performance, insurance, and disposition activities to protect and optimize organizational resources.

What You Bring
  • Education & Experience
    Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA preferred. 10+ years of experience in accounting or financial management (nonprofit, healthcare, disability services, or Medicaid-funded environments preferred), including at least 5 years leading and developing teams.
  • Financial & Technical Expertise
    Deep knowledge of GAAP and FASB standards, with experience in nonprofit accounting. Advanced proficiency in technology and business tools, including Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe, with strong systems and documentation capabilities.
  • Leadership & Communication Skills
    Proven ability to lead, coach, and collaborate effectively across all levels of an organization. Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strategic & Operational Strengths
    Strategic, cross-functional thinker with a strong bias for action and implementation. Demonstrated success managing projects from concept through completion with consistency and goal orientation.

  • Additional Requirements
