Job Overview:
The Lead Editor will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the editorial department and is responsible for assembly and final editing of an animated feature film. The Lead Editor works with the director, producers, and creative executives to deliver a high-quality project from pre-production animatics through postproduction and delivery.
Reporting Relationships:
This position reports to SVP, Entertainment Production & Operations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintain creative integrity of film throughout the production and post production processes
- Make decisions regarding pacing, acting, dialogue, music and sound effects that determine the quality and delivery of the project
- Supervise the editorial team, provide leadership
- Oversee correct presentation of editorial related materials for screenings and third party delivery.
- Responsible for providing service studio and third party vendors with all approved materials as needed
- Participate in scratch, production and ADR dialogue recording sessions.
- Cut and/or oversee the cutting of temp SFX and Music for the story reel
- Participate in final mix and temp mixes
- Monitor quality standards of all work done at audio houses and other post houses
- Spot final film with Sound Designer and Composer
- Acts as a creative liaison between Directors/Production and sound designer and mixers
- Attend production meetings when required
- Supervise editorial team in turning over approved cut of the film in the required format to the sound and music departments as needed
Qualifications/Requirements:
- 5 years or more experience in feature film animation editorial.
- Must have intimate knowledge of AVID Media Composer.
- Lead Editor on minimum of 2 theatrically released animated feature films.
- Strong team leader with good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Photoshop is a plus.
- Familiarity with Pro Tools for scratch recording is preferred.

The anticipated pay range for candidates who will work in Toronto is $200,000 to $220,000 Per Annum. The offered pay to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to years of experience within the job, years of experience within the required industry, education, etc. Spin Master Inc. is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work only in other states.
