Job Description:

Position Summary

In this role, you will be serving customer needs in accordance Hi-Cone's organizational goals. The majority of your work will be at customer sites in a beverage manufacturing facility, and involves installing, maintaining and troubleshooting automated packaging equipment. You will work closely with customers, project managers, engineers, quality personnel and sales. This is a home-based position that requires exceptional communications skills, independent thinking and self-motivation to work independently and as a part of the service team and cross functional teams. Knowing when to lead, learn and follow is critical for success. A strong mechanical skill set will be required along with a foundational electrical skill set.

This is a home-based position with up to 85% of travel required. When not on vacation or approved time off, on call to travel 24 hours per day 7 days per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proven leadership abilities and ability to effectively communicate orally and in written form.
  • Identify equipment and material needs for projects, and coordinate with customer representatives and internal team.
  • Participate in and successfully complete job-related educational courses, training/testing programs.
  • Assist (as required) in the training of internal and external personnel.
  • Use of hand and power tools applicable to the trade.
  • Determine need for, analyze and make necessary running adjustments, repairs and overhauls.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical and schematics.
  • Maintain knowledge of installation, troubleshooting and repair of low & high voltage electrical systems, PLC's, Servo motion systems, discrete and analog field devices and basic wiring principles.
  • Independently plan and execute travel.


Qualifications
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to write professional emails and service reports.
  • Strong end-user computer skills.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Strong ability for mechanical troubleshooting, repair, and installation.
  • Working knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, Servo systems and relay logic.
  • Allen Bradley/Rockwell PLC and HMI programming experience.
  • Electromechanical degree preferred. Vocational training or relevant work experience may be acceptable.


Position Requirements
  • Must be able to stand for 8 hours a day and lift 40-50 pounds for extended periods.
  • Must reside within 2-hour drive of a major airport.
  • Must maintain a valid driver license, clean driving record, and valid passport at all times.
  • Must maintain ability to freely travel domestically and internationally.


Compensation Information:

The salary range for this position is $38 - $40 per hour. The pay rate for a successful candidate will depend on the geographic location, this salary range is for successful candidates in the Chicago, Illinois metro area. The specific hiring rate within the posted pay range will depend on the successful candidate's qualifications and prior experience.
