Overview

GovCIO is currently hiring for a Field Support Technician to provide remote and on-site technical support for the deployment, installation, integration, and sustainment of the Air National Guard's (ANG) modernized Information Technology (IT) infrastructure across installations throughout the Continental United States (CONUS). This position will be an on-site position with occasional remote flexibility within the United States, with travel up to 50%.

As part of a nationwide IT modernization initiative, this role supports the implementation of standardized hardware, software, and network solutions that improve operational capability, cybersecurity, reliability, and mission readiness across more than 180 ANG installations. Working closely with systems engineers, network engineers, cybersecurity personnel, logistics teams, and program management, the Field Support Technician performs hands-on installation and configuration, troubleshooting, testing, and maintenance of IT systems in accordance with program standards and Department of War (DoW) requirements. The technician plays a critical role in ensuring successful field deployments while minimizing operational disruption and maintaining compliance with evolving cybersecurity and configuration management requirements.

Responsibilities

Installs, operates, maintains, repairs and modifies equipment. Performs a variety of maintenance and technical support on products such as equipment, integrated systems and subsystems, and software at customer and/or field locations. Analyzes and evaluates products and related performance. Troubleshoots and diagnoses malfunctions to eliminate problem in minimum time. Installs, upgrades and removes products ensuring coordinative engineering field change. Maintains effective customer communications and relations. May provide onsite training of customer support personnel.

  • Assembles, installs and configures systems and equipment in accordance with site assessments and schematics.
  • Completes system programming and optimization as part of the installation process.
  • Performs routine system maintenance and analysis functions, including hardware configurations and adding, removing and replacing equipment components.
  • Provides on-site end-user training on system operation, maintenance and limited troubleshooting.
  • Travels frequently to customer sites and performs field technician service duties as assigned.
  • Tests, trains and fields support to customers regarding technical aspects of designated systems and services.
  • Provides expertise for the resolution of technical problems, troubleshoots products and modifies products to customer requirements.
  • Reviews system and network configurations to ensure successful implementation of services into production.
  • Partners with developers and engineers to reduce re-occurring incidents.
Qualifications

High School with 9+ years (or commensurate experience)

Required Skills and Experience

  • Clearance Required: Secret
  • DoD 8140 Level II certification (Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, CySA+,CND)
  • Working knowledge of enterprise hardware platforms and common networking technologies.
  • Ability to interpret engineering documentation, technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and installation procedures.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills with the ability to support technical and non-technical users.
  • Ability to lift equipment (up to 50 pounds), work in equipment rooms, and perform physical installation activities.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% in support of nationwide deployment activities.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience supporting Department of War (DoW), Department of Defense (DoD), National Guard, or other Federal Government IT environments.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, Microsoft 365, virtualization technologies, and enterprise networking equipment.
  • Experience implementing Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), security patches, and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Experience using IT service management (ITSM) platforms such as ServiceNow.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting desktops, laptops, servers, networking equipment, and peripheral devices.
  • Experience supporting hardware refreshes, system migrations, or enterprise technology deployments.
