As a Field Service Engineer II -Turbo Machinery, you will provide field and factory technical support for centrifugal pumps and compressors, with a strong emphasis on controls, instrumentation, PLC systems, and rotating equipment troubleshooting. You will lead installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities while working directly with customers and channel partners globally.

Domestic and international travel of up to 50% is required.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform field service activities with 100% compliance to safety regulations and mandatory training requirements
  • Provide technical support for centrifugal pumps and compressors, including API and non-API equipment
  • Lead installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and startup activities at customer sites (3-5 projects/month typical workload)
  • Troubleshoot complex failures involving mechanical, electrical, process, and control system issues
  • Utilize PLC and control system logic to diagnose and optimize equipment performance
  • Lead Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) investigations (minimum 2-4 per quarter depending on workload)
  • Create and manage service cases in CRM systems (e.g., Microsoft CRM or equivalent platforms)
  • Train customers and channel partners through quarterly or scheduled technical training sessions (1-4 per quarter)
  • Oversee on-site work performed by customer technicians to ensure OEM/API compliance standards are met (100% adherence required)
  • Generate accurate and timely technical reports, warranty evaluations, and service documentation (within 48-72 hours of site activity completion)
  • Perform equipment evaluations to determine warranty vs. non-warranty failure classification
  • Support rebuild, repair, and retrofit activities of rotating equipment per OEM specifications


Qualifications

YOU MUST HAVE
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical/Electronic Engineering OR
    • Associate degree + 7+ years of field service experience, OR
    • High School Diploma + 10+ years of rotating equipment / industrial field service experience
  • 3+ years of hands-on field service experience with rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, turbines, or similar systems)
  • 3+ years of experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, or process control systems in industrial environments
  • Working knowledge of PLC systems and control logic troubleshooting (minimum 2+ years required)
  • Experience working with P&IDs, process control systems, and industrial instrumentation (2+ years required)
  • Ability to travel up to 50% domestically and internationally
  • Strong customer-facing experience with at least 2+ years in field service or technical support roles
  • Ability to independently manage field assignments and deliver technical reports within defined timelines


WE VALUE
  • 3+ years of experience with centrifugal pumps, compressors, or API-compliant rotating equipment
  • Familiarity with API standards, seal plans, and oil & gas or chemical industry environments (2+ years preferred)
  • Experience leading or participating in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) activities (1-3+ years preferred)
  • 1-3+ years of PLC programming or control system troubleshooting experience
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, GD&T, and engineering specifications (2+ years preferred)
  • Strong technical writing skills with experience producing detailed field service and failure analysis reports (2+ years preferred)
  • Experience mentoring or training junior engineers or technicians (1+ year preferred)
  • Prior international field service experience (1+ assignments strongly preferred)
  • CAD software familiarity (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, NX) is a plus (1+ year exposure preferred)
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple concurrent field projects (3-6 at a time depending on region)
  • Proven ability to work independently with high attention to detail and customer satisfaction focus
