Full Job Description

Job Description: Reporting to the Director, Commercial Learning & Development, the Field Sales Trainer (FST) will increase the knowledge, skills and abilities of Sales Representatives by facilitating a field sales training program aligned to Commercial Sales strategic initiatives and individual goals. The FST will have subject matter expertise to identify and proactively address opportunities to increase the effectiveness of Owens & Minor Sales teammates, to conduct performance gap analyses and to develop and deliver training (examples: consultative selling skills, technical skills, onboarding and development) to sales teammates at all levels of the company. Champions the value of sustained learning to sales leaders and teammates, while becoming a trusted advisor within the organization.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $90,000 - 100,000 annually. The actual compensation offered may vary based on job related factors such as experience, skills, education and location. This position is remote with up to 25% travel required.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Follow-up on New Hire Sales Training Programs in the field:

    • Responsible for delivering sales training programs and initiatives; assumes full control and accountability for assigned training initiatives; focuses on sales team skills and productivity.

    • Assess participant skill and knowledge levels and provide feedback to leadership.

    • Provide guidance regarding coaching and performance management opportunities (inclusive of probationary period assessment).

  • Deliver Ongoing Training & Development Solutions to Sales Organization in the field:

    • Participates in training functions, special events, and corporate conferences in the capacity of training and facilitating where needed.

    • Coaches and trains sales representatives and sales leaders in a one-to-one or group setting on how to evaluate and deal with unique selling scenarios or skill development requirements.

    • Works directly with internal training team in the development of training solutions to drive sales team skills and productivity.

  • Assist in enhancement on Training Program & Content Evaluation & Development, based on learning from sales field engagements:

    • Collaborate with content development and design team.

    • Design, assess and update training programs.

    • Ensure training programs reflect current business practices and policies.

    • Enhance or create training materials and tools as required.

  • Assist in enhancement on Training & Development Needs Assessment, based on learning from sales field engagements:

    • Consults with stakeholders to understand strategic and tactical business objectives and identifies development needs and priorities.

    • Conducts needs analysis and recommends appropriate development solutions with supporting cost benefit analysis.

  • Field Training Program Administration

    • Coordinate with internal partners to ensure training program logistics support the business.

    • Maintains communication links at all levels regarding training endeavors.
