Compensation

The base salary for this role ranges between $87,280 - $120,010, with eligibility for an incentive target of 10% which is contingent upon achieving both individual and company performance objectives.

The pay range above is not a guarantee of compensation but reflects the potential total compensation for this role at the time of this posting based on the assigned job grade. Actual compensation will vary depending on factors such as geographic work location, relevant experience and individual skills. The stated range is a reasonable estimate and may change over time; final compensation may fall above or below the range provided. Position Details

The Field Safety Specialist provides Safety & Health expertise to Grainger Customers and Sellers to develop strong partnership relationships in order to grow revenues within a defined region. The role partners with District Sales Managers in their defined regions to ensure they are aligned to the right safety and health opportunities and are training their aligned region Sellers on Safety & Health offers, resources and insights.

You will travel within Vancouver area approx 50% of the time and 50% outside Vancouver covering the entire province.

You Will
  • To conduct needs analysis to determine and understand the customer's safety & health issues and align to Grainger Safety & Health solution that includes products or services
    • Leads customer discussion with relevant insight and challenges the customer to think differently about their business
    • Explores expressed customer needs and identifies problems to solve-probes to fully understand, clarify and expand
    • Utilize research to identify compelling reason to change
    • Efficiently determines a customer's readiness, focusing time on those who are willing to take advantage of his products or services
    • To provide customers with solutions that reduce costs or increase efficiency with innovative product or service applications
  • Develops solution options using ongoing dialogue with the customer and all available technology
    • Links features and benefits to business outcomes
    • Works with internal and external Grainger contacts to ensure ability to support solution
    • Performs cost savings analysis for customer solution as well as Value Based Conversations through Value Receipts and Documented Value Statements
    • Uses checking questions to gain feedback from customer on customized solution recommendation
  • To implements solutions
    • Engages internal and external Grainger resources to develop plan and timeline to implement solution
    • Drives implementation plan with customer
    • Checks with customer to ensure business needs are being met
    • Leverages post-implementation success to gain more information from the customer about future needs
  • To support Grainger Sellers in aligned region
    • Provide strategy, coaching and direction on safety & health opportunities that are within their region
    • Help to align internal and external resources to support the safety & health opportunities
    • Educate sellers on safety offers and key messaging
  • Assists in identifying accounts in geography that will either be assigned as support for key opportunities
    • To maintain expertise through appropriate preferred safety credentials focused on safety & health regulations and industry topics
    • Educates customers on changing market trends and technology and impact to their business
    • Investigates nonstandard solutions that will profitably satisfy a customer's needs
    • Expands customer understanding and use of Grainger's standard product and service capabilities


You Have
  • A post-secondary education preferred
  • 5+ years experience in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent environment involving safety hazard analysis and assessments and responsible for overseeing safety required
  • Strong business & safety acumen with the ability to understand financial reporting, to analyze safety business needs, and documenting safety & health
  • value to customers.
  • Ability to project manage and drive for results
  • Experience conducting workplace inspections to prevent injuries / accident prevention and reduction, engineering controls, ergonomics and hazmat control to meet compliance standards
  • Business analysis experience and the ability to identify and implement safety improvements are required
  • Understanding and awareness of safety regulations, safety applications, and the ability to distinguish market offers and capabilities
  • Demonstrated understanding of safety violations, safety drivers, safety programs, building a safety culture
  • Demonstrated knowledge, understanding and experience with newest and latest in safety regulations
  • Ability to learn and understand the Grainger Selling Process so they can effectively team and solution sell with Grainger sellers
  • Ability to communicate across all levels of the organization
  • Ability to build strong networks and to work cross-functionally
  • Skilled in the application and use of computer and communications technology, with ability to analyze data through available reports
  • Ability to proactively partner with various leaders in their geography that ensures the right level of follow-up and follow-thru.
  • Demonstrates the ability to motivate and achieve results through others
  • DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State Possession of a valid license and a suitable vehicle Upon Hire required
  • QSSP (Qualified Safety Sales Professional) Certified or other recognized safety certifications/degrees Upon Hire preferred

This role may require you to attend customers' sites and adhere to safety requirements in accordance with applicable health and safety legislation, as it relates to wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) on certain customer sites. This may include: a hard hat; steel-toed safety boots, clean shaven or trimmed moustache/beard in order to wear a close-fitted N95 mask or other required PPE. Details of these requirements will be provided during the recruitment process.

Some customers may have alcohol and drug screening policies for on-site contractors and vendors. You may be required to submit to such customer screening procedures as and when requested as a condition of being permitted on such sites.
