Description

ROLE:

The Field Safety Manager is uniquely positioned within the company to have maximum impact on employee safety and productivity. This is achieved using a dual reporting arrangement. The Field Safety Manager reports directly to the Area Operations Manager on a daily and weekly basis. They collaborate with the operations team to help our employees safely build our work. The Field Safety Manager also reports and is accountable to the Corporate Safety Director. This ensures alignment with company-wide safety standards, processes, and initiatives. The dual reporting nature of this arrangement positions the Field Safety Manager close to the people they are protecting. It also provides them with the support they need to do their job. This is a full-time position and requires extensive travel to project sites throughout the Mid-West, initially starting work on two large projects in Nashville and Kentucky.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work in a team environment to oversee and make decisions related to project safety, health, and environmental policies such as:
  • Assist operation managers with project specific requirements
  • Create Job Hazard Analyses for project specific tasks, review them with the project team and make any necessary changes as needed before or during work activities
  • Job site visits to support field personnel and conduct safety audits on personnel, equipment, and materials
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement safety procedures and policies for the benefit of employees
  • Research and implement new materials handling processes
  • Analyze accident reports and evaluate injury case studies based on available facts
  • Prepare and conduct internal safety training sessions
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies and standards (OSHA, MSHA, EPA, etc.)
  • Research regulations and policies and institute changes to ensure compliance
  • Track incident metrics and apply findings
  • Lead injury and incident investigations and evaluations
  • Travel required, including substantial amount of field visits


REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5 years of field experience in heavy civil construction, preferably geostructural but not required. Laborers, welders, piledrivers, carpenters, and operators are welcome.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • General knowledge of OSHA standards regarding construction
  • Ability to train, influence and motivate team members
  • Ability to speak, read and write in Spanish is beneficial but not required
  • Self-motivated, great time management skills, strong work ethic and business integrity
