Full Job Description
The Opportunity

  • Field project controls manager position located at the project site in Beech Island, South Carolina.

    The project is a lump sum EPC project consisting of a 1 x 0 GE F-class dual fuel simple cycle combustion turbine with hot selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology. The plant will have a nominal capacity of 190MW.

    This position has supervisory/lead responsibility over a group of project controls personnel or functions as a technical specialist who develops advanced concepts. Supervises work of others.
  • Responsible for overall performance management.
  • May be responsible for hiring, discipline, and pay administration of their subordinates.


Key Responsibilities

Manages a diverse team of professionals and able to achieve successful results and able to function as a technical specialist developing advanced concepts. May be responsible for hiring, discipline, and pay administration of others.

Cost:
  • Leads cost control team
  • Addresses contractual requirements related to cost control


Planning/Scheduling:
  • Leads planning and schedule preparation on more complex projects including startup planning.
  • Addresses contractual requirements related to schedule control.
  • As required by the business unit, expert in scheduling forensics.


PJC Management:
  • Recognizes critical issues and interfaces.
  • Confers with PM team on project execution matters.
  • Participates in key risk management discussions.
  • Participates in and may lead any potential claims issues.
  • Manages controls functions from home office to site as appropriate.
  • Supervises subcontract administration when assigned.
  • As applicable ensures compliance with tools/processes in Field Project Controls Manual.
  • As applicable ensures startup planning is at the appropriate level of detail.
  • Collaborates with the project management leadership team to ensure project success.

Management Responsibilities

Supervises work of others. Responsible for hiring, discipline, and pay administration of their subordinates.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefer Master's degree or local equivalent in Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Experience serving in a Leadership role for a medium- to large-sized EPC project in both Home Office and Field preferred
  • Prefer certificate from either PMI or AACE


Minimum Qualifications

  • Four-year Bachelor's degree with ten or more years of relevant Cost Control of Planning & Scheduling experience OR no four-year Bachelor's degree required with twelve years or more of relevant Cost Control or Planning & Scheduling experience in Home Office or Field Office.
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.


Certifications

Prefer certificate from either PMI or AACE.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

  • Office Environment: This position requires sitting, talking, hearing, keyboard input and seeing. Occasional travel up to 25% may be required.
  • Construction Site Environment: This position requires standing, kneeling, bending, stooping, moving, and walking long distances in and around confined, cluttered places and uneven areas. It also requires the ability to see and hear naturally or with correction, work at heights above 5 feet, climb and maintain balance on stairs, ladders, and scaffolds and work up to a 12-hour shift. The work environment may involve cramped workspaces, very hot or cold temperatures, inclement weather, extreme lighting conditions, distracting or uncomfortable noise levels, and hazardous equipment.
  • Domestic or International travel may be required.
