Full Job Description
About the role:

Lumafield is looking for a Field & Events Marketing Manager to own the planning and execution of the events where customers, prospects, industry leaders, and the media experience Lumafield firsthand.

You will lead our presence at major industry trade shows, managing everything from strategy and creative development through buildout, staffing, and onsite execution. But this is not solely a trade-show logistics role. You will also help us create events that build Lumafield's reputation, establish our executives and customers as industry thought leaders, generate media and content opportunities, deepen relationships with important accounts, and make the manufacturing community excited about what we are building.

Your portfolio may include major trade shows, executive roundtables, customer gatherings, partner programs, product launches, media events, dinners, office open houses, factory visits, and entirely new formats that we have not tried before.

This role is based at Lumafield's San Francisco headquarters, reports to the Head of Marketing, and works closely with every part of the marketing organization as well as Sales, Customer Success, Product, Engineering, and company leadership.

What you'll do:

  • Own Lumafield's calendar of trade shows, conferences, field programs, and company-hosted events, helping determine where we should participate, what we want to accomplish, and how we should show up.
  • Lead major trade shows from beginning to end, including sponsorship selection, contracts, budgets, booth design, demonstrations, vendors, shipping, registration, staffing, travel, run-of-show planning, lead capture, and onsite execution.
  • Develop creative concepts and experiences that make Lumafield stand out in crowded event environments and give attendees a memorable understanding of our technology.
  • Build an events program that extends beyond trade shows, including executive roundtables, customer events, dinners, open houses, partner programs, media experiences, technical workshops, and other original formats.
  • Treat events as integrated marketing campaigns rather than isolated moments, partnering with Demand Generation, Product Marketing, Content, and Social Media on promotion, programming, messaging, content capture, and follow-up.
  • Identify and develop speaking opportunities for Lumafield executives, technical experts, customers, and partners.
  • Work with others on the Marketing team to turn events into thought-leadership and public-relations opportunities, including media briefings, product announcements, customer stories, executive conversations, and original programming.
  • Partner closely with Sales and Marketing Operations to establish event goals, identify priority accounts, coordinate outreach, manage lead handoff, and measure pipeline and revenue influence.
  • Build productive relationships with event organizers, venues, agencies, fabricators, production partners, speakers, customers, and other external collaborators.
  • Manage event budgets carefully, negotiate contracts, reconcile expenses, and make thoughtful recommendations about where Lumafield should increase, reduce, or redirect its investment.
  • Develop repeatable processes, planning templates, timelines, and playbooks that allow Lumafield's events program to grow without sacrificing quality.
  • Measure event performance using both quantitative outcomes such as attendance, meetings, leads, pipeline, content performance, and media results; and qualitative insights from customers, prospects, and the market.
  • Travel to events and take hands-on responsibility for onsite execution. Some evening and weekend work will be required around major programs.

About you:

  • You have 3+ years of experience managing marketing events, field marketing programs, experiential marketing, conferences, or a closely related function.
  • You have personally managed complex trade shows or conferences from planning through onsite execution and post-event follow-up.
  • You are exceptionally organized. You can manage budgets, deadlines, vendors, shipments, speakers, internal stakeholders, and last-minute changes without losing track of important details.
  • You are both a strategic thinker and a hands-on operator. You are comfortable developing the concept for an event and then making sure the right equipment arrives at the right loading dock.
  • You are creative and curious about what an event can accomplish beyond collecting badge scans.
  • You understand how events can contribute to brand, pipeline, customer relationships, content, public relations, and industry thought leadership.
  • You communicate clearly in writing and in person and can create plans that make responsibilities, deadlines, and decisions easy for others to understand.
  • You are a strong collaborator who enjoys working with colleagues across Marketing, Sales, Product, Engineering, Customer Success, Finance, and company leadership.
  • You're fast and resourceful when circumstances change, timelines compress, or something unexpected happens onsite.
  • You are comfortable working in a fast-paced startup where priorities evolve, processes are still being built, and everyone occasionally helps outside their formal job description.
  • You exercise sound judgment, take ownership, and proactively raise risks before they become problems.
  • You are willing to travel approximately 25-30% of the time and to work occasional evenings and weekends around events.
  • You are able to work in person at Lumafield's San Francisco headquarters.

Bonus:

  • Experience marketing a technical B2B product, particularly in manufacturing, hardware, industrial technology, robotics, aerospace, automotive, medical devices, or enterprise software.
  • Experience creating company-hosted events such as executive roundtables, customer summits, product launches, technical workshops, media events, or open houses.
  • Experience working with Communications or PR teams to develop speaking programs, media opportunities, executive programming, or thought-leadership content.
  • Experience producing events that include complex physical products, technical demonstrations, machinery, or substantial freight and installation requirements.
  • Familiarity with CRM, marketing-automation, event-registration, lead-capture, and project-management systems.
  • A network of strong event-production, fabrication, venue, or experiential-agency partners.
  • Experience working directly with executives, customers, journalists, or other high-profile participants.
